In the past few months I have had to file a claim to USPS for a damaged package and Fed Ex for a lost package. My USPS claim was just denied because I did not provide proper proof of value (it was also denied because the postal worker who I submitted my damage package to for inspection was to lazy to fill out the form and just gave it to me AND took my item without giving a receipt, but then report I had not turned it in to him - but thats a story for another day).
In these situations, do you have a specific document or printout from ebay that has been accepted before as proof of value in a USPS or FED Ex Claims.

The DMM says this (see section 3.2.f):
For Internet transactions conducted through a Web-based payment network that offers payment services through a stored value account, provide a computer printout of the online transaction identifying the purchaser and seller, price paid, date of transaction, description of item purchased, and assurance that the transaction status is completed. The printout must clearly identify the Web-based payment network provider through which the Internet transaction was conducted.

This sounds to me like they want proof that the item was paid for; in other words, a record of the PayPal transaction (or MP equivalent), not just a copy of the eBay listing.

Correct, had 3 claims being denied until I finally got ahold of the claims dept, copy of ebay sale won't work, has to be a screen shot of either paypal payment or ebay's MP sale page. Would have saved me months of waiting if the USPS would have been clearer

If you had the item shipped back to you, that also voids the insurance.

I fought with the USPS over this once and won, although it was a protracted battle. Argument to USPS was insurance covers a package no matter whether it is going or coming and in essence I had purchased the item back, which I had done when I refunded the buyer for the item. Not a battle I would fight again very time consuming for the value of the item but I am less than a mile from the post office and I am retired so had some time to fight this one.

It's been a little while since I have had to file a claim with USPS but, with both Fedex and USPS I Screen shot my Order Details Page. It shows date paid and amount refunded. They have always accepted it as proof.

I would say you would have saved months if you would have investigated sooner on what was required of you to submit a claim properly.

I have filed claim with USPS for lost item PRIORITY MAIL (never delivered) and printed EBAY invoice (shows value of item) and promptly got refund from USPS.
Not sure if USPS will accept blame for damaged item (could claim badly packaged).

What is "MP" in "MP sale page"? Thanks.
