USPS Tracking if off?

I have shipped and scanned several packages these past few days. When I come back to the office to check the status of the tracking, its says that its still in pre shippment status awayting the package to be dropped off to them, meaning no progress that it was accepted.

I was wonering if anyone else had this issue? and what can be done about it?

First, be sure to check at usps.com, rather than ebay or elsewhere.  Sometimes, there are lags in communication between the various entities.   If it's showing only preshipment status there, you can sign up for status notifications and/or contact your local post office. 

This is not too unusual this super busy time of year.  Typically you'll still get at least a delivery scan eventually, and sometimes all the tracking data shows up a few days late.

thanks for the info, yes both on ebay and on usps.com site no movement on the tracking.

But maybe its because of the holiday season their tracking system is overloaded or something.

Will give it some time I guess,

If the post office staff scans a package with a hand-held scanner, the information doesn't necessarily go into the system immediately.  It is usually downloaded to their national system at the end of the workday.

Yes, I had a number of such packages like that the week after Black Friday.  All eventually arrived, with varying levels of tracking.  I think the key is getting that Acceptance Scan, which means standing in line and having them scan packages or the SCAN form.

Well, my situation is not like yours but I think is an indicator that things are pretty busy right now and tracking systems may not be working well. 

I have a package, as a buyer, where the tracking shows it was in Grapevine Texas AND Albuquerque NM at the same time yesterday. Today, it shows the package left Albuquerque this morning AND it left Grapevine TX this evening. Keep in mind I am in Colorado and the package is coming from Minnesota. Go figure.

Yep me too - either there is nothing or the site says to check again later.  I have items of my own that have arrived with NO TRACKING WHATSOEVER.  But here they are!  With no confirmation of delivery though the buyer can say anything they want.  The PO is not exactly on the ball and it is their busiest part of the year.

Oh, heck, yes. It's the week before Christmas and the system is understandably swamped. I've been dropping off packages first thing in the morning that are scanned before I've even left the lobby -- I can hear the beeps as I go out the door -- but nothing shows on-line until much later in the day. When it does show up, it has the correct 7:35 a.m. timestamp and all is well; it's just the propagation time in the system that's lagging badly these days. Don't sweat it.
