USPS Scam Letter

This came in my email today,

I'm assuming its some kind of a key logger type email. The return email points towards a hotmail.it address. Italy?

USPS Scam Letter

I keep scam letter copies in a folder called scams. I have close to 50 different ones now.

This one was interesting as the logo came up as USPS, but I don't use that email with eBay, or to purchase anything.

And I wasn't sure how many newer users have actually seen a USPS one.

USPS Scam Letter

At any given time in my spam box I can find the same type emails from Fedex, UPS, Amazon, etc. etc.   Some of them are pretty convincing, too. They're either going to steal your login credentials for whatever website, or they are going to insert malware of some sort into your computer.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

It looks more like just a routine phishing scam. A keylogger would require a download of nefarious code, and there does not appear to be any attachment to that email you received. I would imagine they're just hoping to get your eBay or PayPal login info. While the link points to an Italian page, the bad guy could be anywhere, just accessing a hacked account.

You can also report to eBay (especially for any messages which are specific to eBay) forward messages to spoof@ebay.com

Sometimes, but not always.  Reporting only ends up generating more emails..

Thanks as this is a new one for me.  I get phishing emails regularly for PayPal, Amazon, and Apple.
