Trinton, Question about Best Offer

@Anonymous

This has bothered me for some time.......this is the "counter offer" I am submitting to the buyer......  Note the "Best offer is for the item only" verbiage......    So why  are "additional terms" allowed to be stated?  I understand that, if shipping isn't stated, it can be part of the "offer"...........but it seems like that should be stated instead of "additional terms", but perhaps I'm not seeing something...  Problem is sellers sometimes "don't see" anything but the price....and accept on that basis......and then get caught when buyers have put something into that terms box.... What other "terms" could be used legitimately in the box?

Re: Trinton, Question about Best Offer

Sometimes shipping terms can be worked out in messages before the Seller agree on an offer. For instance I am willing to have it sent economy as I am in no hurry to get it. Or Maybe it is down as economy and I need it to be shipped priority etc. it is not always about getting a big discount or any discount on the item.  That is why that box is needed to set terms up that were agreed in messages sent back and forth.

But I certainly agree with Sellers too...Some people want to get everything for nothing. some want to get stock to sell on eBay themselves. Hopefully those are in the minority.

I Do like it when a Seller has a automatic decline set for the lowest they will take. Then you can put in several bids and eBay will continue to send a decline message until You either run out of times to Make an Offer, or get high enough that You reach what they will sell it for. I did 3 offers and it was accepted. I did not put postage in the play though The postage was a little high. Great transaction!

Honestly, I have not done very many...sometimes especially on Used items when I see a large variation and  If I like ONE Seller over another I will pay more for the conceived Idea that they are professional, or make them an offer if it is marked extremely high.

I am talking about things that have about 500-1000 items. Not a collector or anything...Some Sellers say OK and some don't many times I will just purchase from the mid rage as far as quality and different Sellers TOS etc. and pass over the really high priced ones. 😉 pam

Re: Trinton, Question about Best Offer

I just wanted to add under not conditions do I want to run the Seller over to the cleaners...I generally know what I am looking at and what it has sold for recently. A Seller could look up the Buyers account details and at least have an Idea what kind of buyer is asking questions when they have their items listed higher. That is helpful as a Seller. You can dodge a lot of MONKEYS.

I have nothing to hide...as a Buyer. When I get an acceptance for an offer I pay as soon as I see it was accepted. I many times will go to the Sellers listing and buy other things at their listed price as a Buy it now. I guess this again will not be the most popular answer everyone wants to hear. I think Sellers that learn how to use it as a tool to draw more Regular customers in.
