I'm new to selling on Ebay and have been out of trading card for a while put have decided to get back into the hobby here the probably I'm having  if you ship the card for free for eat the cost of shipping and you really do make and money out of the deal Ebay does  or you have to set the prices of the cards so high that is no long worth what the card market is value at maybe this isn't the right place for selling trading cards. i love dealing in trading cards i love everything about it would love to make a big business out of it but i don't think Ebay is the place for it Maybe i should just stick with high value cards. could some give me some advice

A few suggestions....

Dump all the cards that you are selling for less than $5, it's simply not worth the effort.

Give up on the Auctions for your cheap/common cards, just set a fixed price.

Drop the Best offer from your low price cards, why would you have Best Offer on a card you have listed for $1?

Your 69 cent shipping charge is inappropriate for shipping $100 or $200 cards. Even $45 cards.

If you are putting a stamp on an envelope to ship, and shipping without tracking, you are inviting every scammer on EBay to claim item not received and receive a full refund. If you are paying for a tracked shipping method, there is no sense in charging 69 cents to ship when you could ship for free,

IMO sticking with high value cards is the appropriate decision. Your time is worth money. Many orders which have problems are low priced orders. A problem with a low priced order impacts you Seller Level and other metrics as much as a bigger order. Some orders are not worth having.

You need to work on your titles, no one is going to search for Trading Card Singles.

You need to add team and player names to your titles and more info about the cards so they can be found.

Your card box, you have for $6 and free shipping, you won't even be able to ship it for $6.

I sell items at .99 with free domestic shipping.

It works after listing a few 1000 listings. I promote at 2-5% listings.

I would do the .73 forever stamp...goes 4-5 days cross country usually...faster than with tracking.

Media mail can take a long time to get to buyer.

Key point is getting 'repeat buyers' and buyers buying 2+ items at one time.

Listing .99 cent items will get lookers...I do take a loss sometimes selling these but the key is multiple sales from one buyer.

The cheapie buyers also leave feedbacks...High end buyers usually don't bother leaving feedbacks.

Selling similar items in a category is the best way to catch repeat buyers.

A lot of sellers here sell in too many different categories here and don't get 'repeat buyers'.

Got to have a business plan.

I buy my forever stamps and other postage stamps to use for postage on eBay from reputable USA sellers.

I managed to get forever stamps under .50 and International stamps forever at 1.00 or less depending on bulk auctions.

I never pay face value stamps to use.

I love those who post here and never show what they sell on eBay...LOL

You don't "eat the shipping" .

You increase the price of the card to include your costs for shipping.

And FWIW eBay offers discounts on some shipping services which cover your packaging costs or perhaps more.

EG and not too useful to American sellers. Canada Post discounts Tracked Packet USA by 53% for eBay sellers- at least when they are not on strike.

And as @12345jamesstamps  it is possible to buy deeply discounted postage stamps here on eBay .

Hey...are sellers able to mail items to the USA during the strike?

And without tracking as well.

I was a former card specialist.

You can't make minimum wage listing and selling individual cards less than about $2.99 plus shipping. You simply cannot list, file, pull and pack them fast enough to make any money. My card store has a 2.99 minimum now and I no longer list new cards in it under $5.

Also, I don't want to be doubly negative, but the low dollar sports card market is pretty much the worst trap on ebay.  You would do better dumpster diving for your inventory than selling $2 sports cards. 90 percent of them never sell and if you actually had a great day and sold $200 of them you would be packing for 10 hours straight to clear $100.

Price your product at what you think the market says it should be.  Shipping should be calculated for the buyer to pay.  If buyers do not value the shipping of the card, don't worry about it.  But don't devalue the card just to give away the shipping cost.  I don't believe anyone here  has ever lowered their price by 8-10% to off set sales tax for the buyer either, so don't do it with shipping.

I also don't believe in overvaluing the item to include shipping, let buyers know the cost of the item & the cost of shipping, and they know what they will pay in sales tax.  If they choose not to buy as a result, that is fine, not everybody will pay the value added.
