I don't have a store. When we go on vacation I have always just increased my handling time to as much as three weeks and never had an issue. We are moving and since I have mostly Christmas stuff listed, I thought I'd try Time Away, especially if it makes it more obvious to buyers that my items won't ship for the couple weeks it might take us to get the office set up again. Has Time Away worked well for you? Where do I even find that option?

Time Away does not automatically extend your handling time; you have to do that separately. Or you can block sales entirely, until you're ready to have normal operations again. Some buyers get very impatient even when the information is right there in the listing.

I would just end the listings, you can do it in bulk. You can also relist them all in bulk as well.

I use it, works fine, I always hide my listings while I'm away..........

I have used both time away and extended handling time in both cases it has worked very successfully. A note that might help when I do this and a buyer makes a purchase I cantact them to insure they are aware of the time away and increased handling time. Also note that time away and handling time look at days away differently time away counts all days not just shipping days as does handling time.

Easiest to just 'block purchases and views' as most people don't read; they don't read 'estimated delivery date' 'handling time' or the small yellow 'buyer is away blah blah blah'.
You will wind up with negatives and cancellations and INR Returns.
Ending listings is risky; especially with all the glitches- when you 'relist' them, Item Specifics could get all messed up etc.

If you will be gone only a few days, leaving your listings visable for purchase usually works fine. 2 weeks or more is too long to do that. Buyers no longer see your handling time, etc.
Go on time away, hide your listings, reactivate them in Time Away when you return.
Good luck with your move!!

I thought Time Away was supposed to adjust the handling time, so you didn't have to do it like you did using the vacation setting.

Nope, they just change the estimated delivery date.

That's what it says-

You're right, that's technically what the page says- but that makes no sense. Why would eBay update the estimated delivery date but not the handling time? velvet@ebay?

I've used both. I have a one day handling time. When I would use the regular time away - not the pause that hides everything - the delivery date was extended out for the number of my away days. If I was away for five days, the delivery time was extended that many days. I never made any adjustments to my handling time.

If they just extend the delivery time and not the handling, don't you have to be able to upload the tracking within the "away time" to still meet the upload shipping metric? If I'm truly away, that would be a problem.

@coffeebean832 the handling due time should be updated automatically based on the combined total of your stated handling time and time away duration. If you or anyone else is not experiencing that though, please get us a few examples and we'll get a ticket filed with the tech team. Thanks!

So I guess I've hidden my listings starting tomorrow, visible again December 14th. To still keep them visible brought them back up no later than December 2nd. Tomorrow will be six weeks since the urologist told my husband he has bladder cancer. Finally today (after five full weeks of silence) he has been given a December 2nd surgery date. It is entirely possible we'll be up and connected over Thanksgiving weekend (move is this coming Monday), and that I can turn my listings back on for a few days and then off again, but need to cover myself if we can't get the computers hooked up without help over a looming holiday weekend. On surgery day we'll drive back up from our new apartment in the "old folks home" and get a hotel for that night so Cliff doesn't have to endure 90 minutes of my freeway driving in the dark. Cats will have one night without Mom and Dad. There will be major disapproval when we arrive home on December 3rd!
