this was my second warning for a different patch some time ago, this WSP patch has been on my shop for some months as of yesterday were 42 listings for same though some were very obvious reproductions and there is a rule covering that, I am a retired Police Officer sand collected for 45 years, sold on ebay for 20 years but if they arbitarily pick an item is very easy to get "banned" thanks for your replies

The following items can’t be listed for sale on eBay:
- Law enforcement and other government-issued uniforms, badges, or accessories, such as hats, jackets, or shirts,or replicas of these items
- Official emergency lighting systems or sirens, including lenses or LEDs for these systems Despite an hour talking first to a customer service agent, then her manager I got on where as I probably expected, is very disapointing does it mean there should be no law enforcement patches on ebay, they don't seem to know
Washington State Patrol IS a law enforcement agency, just because you had it listed for some months it doesn't mean that it was ok to list it obviously took ebay's bots a little time to find it and pull it. Or your listing was reported. I wouldn't recommend relisting as it may result in you not being allowed to sell at all.

What part of the listing policies that you posted wasn't clear?

The eBay policy seems very clear. You can’t sell law enforcement or government agency badges, even replicas. This policy, I understand, is difficult for you, as that is what you sell. I don’t have a problem with what you sell - seems like harmless stuff, but I understand the reason for the eBay policy. There are plenty of cooks that would buy these badges to impersonate govt officials.

OP was talking about selling a police PATCH, not a badge. There are currently over 150,000 listing for "police patch", they are a wide spread collectible item commonly traded and sold. In fact, there is a specific category for collectible police patchs. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=police+patch&_sacat=0

They are allowed to be sold here, just make sure it is in the police patch category:

It is badges that are prohibited, not shoulder patches. But this is one area that Ebay is very, very inconsistent. The shoulder patches should not be prohibited, I mean there is a specific category for these patches, but depending on the clerk doing the monitoring they are sometimes removed although I have never heard of an Ebay clerk imposing a draconian 3-day suspension. By the way, I had a foreign para-military patch pulled after having listed it for many years as I had multiples. Resistance against such fecklessness is futile.

@powell-memorabilia it was not a badge, it was a patch.
Generally shoulder patches are allowed. A patch that resemble a badge is not.
Even if your patch was removed in error you will not be able to relist it. Once removed that's it unless you can convince eBay it's a shoulder patch and doesn't resemble a badge and they send you an email specifically giving you permission to sell it. If you can't get that don't relist it.

Were you given the restriction the first time your patch was removed?
That would be unusual. It usually takes 3 removals for a restriction to kick in.

That's not accurate; you get 3 days the very first time, 7 days the 2nd and I don't know because I did not get past that
(for 'duplicate postings' which was wrong because although the item, picture and 90% of the title is the same, key point is the Vehicle Years that it fit and stated in the Title of the Listing....
short story now long: talked to CSR's (5+ yrs ago when they were US based) and was told I was correct, and the 7 day suspension was lifted...on day 7 (insert Charlie Brown sigh here)

Hmm Such could be considered accessory: Just saying;
eBay does write their policy to be vague to cover such.
Do not relist it
It is not worth one item to get band from selling is it???

The OP looks to have hundreds of police department patches listed for sale.
I would guess that someone from the Washington State Patrol complained to eBay about the item & that is why it was pulled.

My experience from reading the Boards has been that there are 2 'warnings' ... then a 3-day, 7-day, 30-day restriction ... the next being permanent restriction.
The above is when a single item has been relisted multiple times.
I have read of a listing getting a restriction on the first pull ... but that seemed to be when the seller had multiple banned items listed OR had problems with other listings in the past being pulled.
I wonder if there has been a change in policy recently ... OR whether different types of banned items are handled different.
