Third Party Shipper

Ebay/Paypal can be so frustrating at times. More so Paypal. So I sold an item, expensive item and shipped it to the address provided by Ebay/Paypal. Package gets delivered to said address here in the US. As a collector myself I packaged it extremely well. Package gets delivered a few days later, no feedback from the buyer, nothing. I assumed everything was fine. Buyers dont always leave feedback.

A month passed and I have a message from the buyer. He claims he received the item damaged and would like partial refund back. Here's where the story, the buyer lives in South America. The US address he uses I guess is a proxy. He gets the items there and someone else ships it to him. How are the items shipped to him, I have no idea. I tell him im not responsible how the item arrived to South America because I sent it to the US where the Paypal/Ebay confiormed address said to send it. He says he cant return it because it would cost him twice as much as the value of the item and that he is going to open a Paypal claim if I dont give gim a partial refund. I declined.

I preemptively called Ebay and Paypal and explain the situation. They tell me not to worry about it since he used a third party to send him the package to another country. After I hung up I checked PP and sure enough, the buyer filed a claime (not as described). He said he would return but I would have to pay shipping from South America plus the cost of the item. What does PP do? They put the funds on hold thus making my account negative. I uploaded the messages between the buyer and me and the actual pictures of the item taken prior to shipment. Buyer claims they are photoshopped and not the actual picture. After they told me not to worry about it I'm still waiting for them to resolve the case. Its been over a week, no resolution. Why should the buyer made responsible for something the buyer do? I have no idea what happened to the item after it arrived to the first destination or how it was sent to South America.

Re: Third Party Shipper

If he files through ebay, then call them and have them close it in your favor.  With ebay the buyer loses all protection if the item is reshipped anywhere else.

If he  puts through a claim through Paypal then he is responsible to pay for return shipping.

Tell him to return it back on his dime and then you will refund him.

So call his bluff.

Re: Third Party Shipper

What emerald40 said - with Paypal, he is responsible for the return shipping cost.  If you get it back, then youwill have to refund the cost of the item plus the original shipping.  Just know that he can send backa rock and youw ill still have to refund.  But I'd bet he doesn't send anything back.

You've waited a week.  Give it another week, and if it doesnt show up then call Paypal and ask them to close the case inyour favor since he hasn't sent it back.

Also note that the buyer can leave feedback for you.

Re: Third Party Shipper

My only negative feedback came from a transaction like this, sent to the reshipper, person in another country got the item first claimed there was only "1" of the item I sent them called their bluff then they told me both were there and now there is mysteriously a "problem" with the item and they want a partial refund, I told them they had to send it back they refused because they knew it was gonna cost them more than they paid for the items total so instead they immediately left me a negative feedback for not falling for their partial refund scam.
