Did you mean:

Thanks anyway...

I have to admit to error.  I had left out a decimal point in my percentage of this item being sold.

Proof that adrenaline will wake you up better than coffee.

I am going to go through 1200 listings today to be sure they are all accurate.

I do get a little education for the cost of a low-end item and some embarrassment.

Re: Thanks anyway...

What percent did you promote it at?

$11.34 is really high.

Re: Thanks anyway...

for god's sake check your numbers!

Oh I do & I'm well aware how much eBay takes. But thanks for the advice. My advice is, for god's sake familiarize yourself with your listings! There's no reason you should have promoted items & not know it.

I also recommend not passing on eBay's shipping discount onto the customers, that difference helps offset eBay's fees. This is how your sales should look, with the subtotal & earnings being about the same

@borkboing

What this tells me is that YOU didn't verify your costs before setting a price, promotion rates and fees.

Re: Thanks anyway...

 Did you promote at 75%?

If I did the math right, 11.34/15.00= .756

Re: Thanks anyway...

I don't promote. Granted I don't sell much. However i would rather sell nothing than make 51 cents. Also i am afraid of halo, which includes items not even promoted. And promotions last a long time. You can't just quit them and think you won't be charged promotional fee. Newly listed stuff sells quickly for me. Try listing more without promoting as an experiment. I am surprised when I see promoted items which have no competition because it's the only one on ebay.

Thanks for the reply. We all make mistakes, you included.  I don't dodge accountability and I don't appreciate your tone.

Re: Thanks anyway...

Thanks for replying. I do appreciate it when someone takes time out of their day like this and I try to respond to all if possible.

I did make an error. My bad.

I do promote, I am aware that I promote and where. What was not anticipated was how much it cost on this item, but again, an error on my part.

Have a great week!

Re: Thanks anyway...

Thank you for your reply!

I promote at a fixed rate, but left out a decimal point. A simple and expensive error on my part.

In my defense, finding information on ebay is like a needle in a haystack. I looked around for a half an hour and did several searches to find nothing. I had to start a relist of the sold item before that information was revealed.

Have a great week and thanks again!

There's no "tone" in my post. "Tone" is impossible to convey in the written (online) context because you can't hear inflection or see facial expression. (Keep in mind that those of us who try to help here DO care. If we didn't care, we wouldn't be here donating our own free time to help total strangers, many of whom fail to appreicate the knowledge and help offered.)

But the fact is that you're telling us "for god's sake check your numbers! " but you neglected to do that. (And I see that you revised the OP and realized that you erred.

But honestly, sellers have to do their homework before coming to vent and before blaming ebay for a mistake they made.

I'm sorry you didn't make much on this sale but since you've learned from your mistake and it won't happen again, it's a cheap education.

Re: Thanks anyway...

I included the usual anticipated Ebay fees for a total of what was charged by Ebay for the item.

However, the error was mine.

Thanks for taking time out of your day for me.

Your tone is your message and I am not going to pretend with you that it is not there.

Nobody needs you to point out accountability and pin blame. I initially needed help understanding what could have been a major problem when under high stress.  Being right does not give you, me or anyone else a license to rub another's nose in an error. The only time you have that right is when I would give it to you and I have not done so.

Maybe show a little kindness. None of the others came at me like this and they made the choice to not do so.  People are here for help, not a dopamine fix for someone that feels they have a license to condescend.

Re: Thanks anyway...

The silver lining is that this was a fairly inexpensive item to goof on.  That was a huge percent of this sale, but it could have been a lot more expensive.
