If I have a Buyer who wants to buy something specific from me, and I want to create a listing just for him, where no other members see it, how do I go about doing that. I just wnt to create the listing and send him the link so he alone can purchase it. Can this be done?

I do it this way, and in addition, I tell the buyer that, when making the offer, to use the same ID as the one they used for the message.

I want to thank all of you for replying to my question. I guess there is no real provision for creating a specific private listing other than the work-around suggestion you all have made. I will employ the suggestions and give it a try. Hopefully my supposed Buyer is serious and will not be wasting my time. Thanks again to all

I seem to recall that waaaaaaaaaaaay back 'in the day', we were able to list for a specific user, but then that went away. Not sure why, but I'm sure there were reasons for it.

Another thought that worries me. One of you mentioned your buyer not following through with the purchase after you had created a specific private listing just for him. I just noticed that the person who claims to be interested in purchasing my product, just joined ebay in the beginning of November and has no sales - purchases or feedback. This concerns me about his intentions. Does any of you know of any scams that have been perpetuated using fake interest in one's product just to get access to a PayPal account or some other way to scam me?

HI, I ask the buyer what time is convenient for them to buy the item at the agreed price. I let them know that it's going to have a very high price but they are bid the best offer price . I put the usual photos. In the title, I write private auction for X in state. In the text, I do write that it is a private auction ONLY for a specific buyer. If anyone else bids, I will have to cancel the sale. Make sure that you write a ridiculous prices to avoid others from bidding. One time, the buyer actually wrote back and told me that if the item sells for the ridiculous price before he gets to bid, to let it go as long as I split the high price with him! Sometimes, I make the first picture show nothing but a bare wall just to keep someone else from bidding. Goodluck.

There's no way that a buyer can access your PayPal account. Sellers aren't even required to have a PayPal account. IMHO the main risk is that an inexperienced buyer won't follow through just because they lost interest. Just ignore any requests to communicate in any way other than through eBay Messages.
eBay used to have an option that sellers could use, to require potential buyers/bidders to be pre-approved. It was eliminated many years ago, probably as part of eBay's movements to become more buyer-friendly.
Because the buyer might not follow through, it's better not to over-personalize it (title etc.). Why would it be a big problem if somebody else purchased the item?
