Suspicious orders from England

They start by offering more than my asking price, then want my PayPal address. I tell them I won't leave the protection of eBay system. They will have joined eBay only that same day. I've had 2 of these, and their phrasing in communication is very similar. also they prefer to communicate via text or my business email. Anyone else getting these?

It's a scam and they send out a ton of those offers. Put them on your blocked bidder list, and save the messages just in case. Do not communicate with them.

Yes, that's a common scam, reported here practically every day. They want your PayPal address in order to send you fake payment notifications, telling you that you have to ship and upload tracking before funds will be deposited in your account. That is not how it really works and no payment will ever appear.

Just stop responding. High-scam items from newer sellers will always attract scammers and this is one of their more common routines. If you feel you must sell high-value items here, decide what you want to receive for the item and list it as Fixed Price only, with no Make Offer option, and with the Immediate Payment Required checkbox selected on the listing form. That way no one can snatch your item off the market without at least paying you for it first. You still run the risk of fake damage or empty-box claims, but the above will at least get you past the fake-payment stage. Good luck, and don't forget that you must use Signature Confirmation on sales of $750 or more.
