Our county has over 1/2 million people in it ... thus far there are 10 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and no deaths.
Our State has 67 counties and 27 have no reported cases. 2 Weeks of limited contact seems to be helping but my feeling is that rural areas that are seeing few confirmed cases may feel like they are stuck in neutral ... I know I do.
Many sources for inventory have closed ... online estate and auction houses are still holding auctions but stating they will retain everybody's items until the restrictions are lifted and their regular offices resume again. That's not really a solution, putting out $$ for inventory but having no clue when you might get it?
Non-Life Sustaining businesses have to be closed but pot shops and liquor stores remain open ... what is up with that?
I am anticipating that we will be put under these constraints again for another 2 weeks ... to sometime in early April.

Yeah not to be a downer, the ratio of positives to total tested is similar to other locations including some of the hot spots. This means that when testing ramps up in PA (<10,000 test reported in the State), many more cases will be diagnosed.
I'd guess that rural areas will be at the far end of the wave but without strict travel restrictions the wave will eventually reach into all areas.

I do believe the numbers will worsen... it follows logic.
But I am beginning to think it's not going to be nearly as bad as it could be... so I have hope.
I have no problem with the social distancing (props to the hubby who shops!) and highly recommend it for all.
My heart goes out to the financially strapped.
My wish is that we shut-ins can retain our sanity.
My house of cards will stand!

State not willing to give up revenue from them ...

What? Life's not dreary or drab enough being on lock-down without even being able to have a glass of wine, a beer or a toke? (we don't have liquor stores here, though).

We've been instructed that unless we have symptoms don't schedule a test ... the actual positives based on the total number of tests is low from what I understand. I think the hot spots simply had more infected people from outside the country visit them ... for example new York city has China Town ... gee, wonder if that's where all their infection got started?!? On the west coast its mainly California and Washington state ... main hubs for inbound flights from Asia ... so this thing has been coming here for a whole lot longer then what people realize ...

Definitely people travel is the big vector for this, though it really first cropped up here in a nursing home in a rather ritzy town in the area - family members bringing it in. I'm surprised it hasn't been a lot worse here with our very busy ports and all the coming and going - it's bad enough, that's for certain. NYC - oh, man.
I can see it now, though - we all, in a united effort, clamp down on this, virologists finally are able to develop a vaccine, medication is deployed through an immense effort, we get through this. Then we get to hear "See, it was all just a hoax, just like Y2K - NOTHING HAPPENED" - disregarding completely the voluntary sacrifices people made down through the weeks and months to clamp down on the spread, the scientists working 12, 13 hours a day, day after day, the front-line medical personnel scrambling to diagnose and triage, hospital personnel working overtime...all quietly in the background, all of us to overcome it.
Pardon me, I'm in a cynical mood (cooped up too much).

MR LINCOLN stated "for example new York city has China Town ... gee, wonder if that's where all their infection got started?!?" I sense a racial undertone in that comment?? The spread in New York started in NEW ROCHELLE at a Jewish Synagogue, not Chinatown. FYI

No, NOT racist.

How life changes, huh. We were all too comfortable in our little ruts! The adjustments have been tough, that's for sure. But we gotta hang in there. The only other option is, well, you know.
The local online auction house got their auction in before the mandatory shut down. The auction tonight had some good bargains! I could have / should have bought more. Can't wait to see one item in particular!! All items have to be picked up curbside tomorrow and then they're closed up at all locations. OMG, I'm going to go into withdrawals without my weekly 'fixes'. But I really need to get listing, if nothing else to chase the blues away.
It's time to get back up and dance!
Good luck to you. Stay well.

Our state is on lock down. I was working at my full time job today. It's not considered "essential" but my greedy boss wants to stay open and bring in every single penny he can. The employees don't want to be there but need the money. It's a sad situation.
What really bothered me was the number of people that came in today just to browse and shop like nothing was going on. I found it hard to be nice and take of them.

@inhawaii Wow, what is really sad is the politics being played by one "party" in the Senate holding up a bill that could bring relief and money to those who have been put out of work because of Covid-19 ... I can not post here on The Community what I really think of them ...

Funny you should bring that up. Wouldn't you know my income takes me JUST ABOVE the limit to receive that check. From what i understand i'll still get a check but it will be for less. I haven't heard that number yet.

Probably not. Just thinking as it started in China maybe people from that part of town may have had other people incoming who visited the hot spot for the virus before we knew it was one.
