Sold Items Being Relisted Without My Knowledge

Good Evening! I just refunded another sale for a product that was sold back on Oct. 31st. This item was relisted by e-bay without my knowledge and I have had to refund six sales to buyers within this last week for product that was sold months ago. Is this another e-bay glitch or am I missing something when creating the listings themselves? Appreciate the help.

It appears you currently have a duplicate listing with the Chucky pin. Run your ID through this scanner @nosworld :

How are you listing / relisting items? Do you use third party software? Do you sell similar from unsolds? Do you bulk relist?

Most of the time this problem crops up it's attributed to seller error, though there have been some unexplainable situations sellers attribute the problem to database events causing old, sold listings to be relisted without their knowledge, aka "ghost listings." At this point it's theory based on seller experiences since nothing concrete has ever been proven.

If you can provide item numbers for the six items from the last week, along with item numbers for the six identical items that sold months ago, we can tag an eBay rep to pass on the listings for investigation. This is a long-standing mystery sellers would love to solve.

Six sales cancelled due to relists of solds in a week sounds more like something wrong with the process OP is using than the infamous ebay relists.

When doing a cancellation, if that item is eligible for relisting, there is an option on the Cancellation form to relist the item.  I think it is auto checked.

I realize this is not the issue for this specific seller.

Sold Items Being Relisted Without My Knowledge

I have had a similar experience with 3 previously sold items relisting. (One was an eBay admitted glitch).

Regarding one, after much frustration and investigating I discovered that when I changed my store policies regarding USPS ground advantage replacing first class mail for shipping I inadvertently failed to remove one previously sold item with a quantity of zero. When that listing updated with the rest it reverted to its original quantity of 4 available. I use the out of stock option for listing where I often replenish the listing when I get more of the same inventory. When one of those items sold I immediately checked my inventory and found it was depleted. I was able to cancel the listing. I explained the situation to the buyer ( a really nice repeat buyer of mine) and she agreed to accept a same type, different patterned item.

Another time when using the bulk editor to update prices I inadvertently again failed to exclude an out of stock listing. I caught that one when a potential buyer asked a question about it.

Now I am very careful to remove my out of stock / 0 quantity available listings by ending them. I have a couple of months to replenish the inventory before the original listing disappears from my seller hub.

Best wishes and happy holiday season to you.
