Since when does Ebay send a seller a request to send invoice to a buyer who hasn't bought?

This is brand new to me. I received a message from Ebay. 2 actually. Requesting me to send an invoice to a buyer. Said "Action required: Please send buyer total amount due.".

The message from Ebay included this from the buyer: " Hi, You have a beautiful collection and I ve marked many items that i love. I want to buy these three items first to see its quality and definitely come back for more after. Can you give me $30 for these three items? Thanks."

That was way below the price I would accept. There was no offer as such.

It had a button for me to send invoice. The invoice didn't allow any price adjustments under the full listed price. It did allow shipping discount for combined shipping.

So, what in the world???

I sent message to buyer that she needed to make an actual offer on each. I can accept, decline or make an offer back as to what I'll accept.

Since, when do we get notices from Ebay to send invoices for items not yet purchased or price agreed on??

eBay uses that wording when a buyer purchases several items, and asks for an invoice from the Checkout page. This is to allow the seller to send an invoice with combined shipping for a discount or (rarely) for upgraded shipping. The buyer "commits to buy" the items when they ask for the invoice, so they have now purchased those items. They are sold, they just aren't paid for yet.

I see that you have 3 listings that were sold yesterday at the exact same time Jan-15 14:13 which should be in PST time zone.

So you're correct, the buyer did not understand what they were doing. They have already purchased those 3 items, and committed to pay the full price for them. The seller is not allowed to edit any of the purchase prices, only the shipping, so the most you can do on the invoice would be to discount the shipping if you want to, but only down to zero.

You have a couple of choices now.

  1. You can send an invoice, with discounted shipping if you want to, and cancel it after 4 days if they don't pay.
  2. You can cancel the transaction, stating at buyer's request or problem with the buyer's address, because the buyer didn't understand that they were buying the items at full price. This could backfire, if the buyer reports you for using that reason when they didn't request you to cancel. I would not do this unless the buyer asks to cancel.

Adding to my previous reply;

You might want to send the buyer a message and explain that you can't adjust the purchase price for these 3 items because they actually purchased them when they sent their previous message.

If you're willing to consider an offer, let them know wat you would be willing to consider and ask if they want you to cancel the purchases so they can send an offer instead.

If they let you know they want to cancel and send an offer, then I would cancel the purchase so they can do that.
