Shortchanged myself again

So I thought ebay was going to charge me the 13.25% for selling a model train but they charge more than that. Are fees for model trains more?

Could have all been explained rapidly if you had not tossed out a question that displayed that there was something that you were not understanding and then snarled.

Perhaps that responder was trying to tell you that the problem lies with you, the seller, not with us, the responders, nor with eBay.

There are several pages of answers to your question here.  They've all been correct but you've lashed out at about all of them.

Yes, the correct final value fee in the model train category is 13.25%.  That fee will be calculated on the basis of the total of: the item price, the shipping cost, the state sales tax, if any, and a 40 cent additional charge.  Taking all of that into consideration, and looking at the breakdown of your payout, were you charged more than 13.25% of that total?  A simple yes or no will do.

Trying to help posters on the board isn't easy. We try really hard to answer any question, but more times than not, very few details are offered for us to go on.  Yours seemed rather easy to offer help on, and the very first post offered the basic information outlining the fee structure to verify the percentage you thought should be charged. 

We don't know what you know in order to go further without asking you questions, in case you wanted to know why the numbers weren't coming out like you thought (you did state you shortchanged yourself).  I usually ask questions to try to learn what you know or why  something is wrong or why you think something is wrong.  That's where not knowing your level of knowledge and not being able to see the numbers can be quite challenging on our end.  We risk insulting your knowledge or flat out misunderstanding what answer you are seeking.

Communication is key and the board works great when both parties do this clearly.  I've had lots of things cleared up or explained to me by others -- many of the same posters that tried on this thread.

Fern*wood I have been here for many years and infrequently come to the community.  By posting the 13.25% in my first post I displayed knowledge of fees, fee structure, and how to find fees since I posted, what we all think ,is the current fees. So right off the bat telling to look at the fee structure is condescending and insulting. I just wanted a simple yes or no to see if others agree model trains should be 13.25%.  After that it goes downhill without one person asking what I was charged until after much mud has been flung. This is typical of the angry tribe that hangs out here, some names I recognize from probably 10 or 20 years ago.

By your own admission, you "shortchanged yourself again." So you've admitted (or agreed) that you calculated something incorrectly. 

And why would you come here to ask questions if you're going to lash out at those who are telling you where you erred?

My suggestion was the help & contact itself that provides answers to simple questions by present "eBay policies" to be read. I was not referring to getting CS in a chat or call back 😁 I should have made that clearer
