I won’t ship internationally and that’s the end of the story. I don’t care what eBay says. It won’t happen

Ok. Thanks for sharing with us. I for one will be able to sleep better tonight now that I know this.

Good for you but just so you know Ebay will never MAKE you ship internationally.

You don't have to ship internationally. Just opt out of it.

And they can't make you, if that's any consolation.

International shipping should be a personal choice. International packages are opened and inspected exposing them to possible damage. The use of freight forwarders creates a loophole that eBay needs to address.

You know, with the new EIS, you don't ship internationally. You ship to the ebay center in the US Ebay will then ship the item internationally AND from that point forward, Ebay takes the risk. The seller doesn't lose the sale. If there is a return, ebay refunds the buyer with their money, not yours.

Heck, you say you won't ship internationally and here I didn't know you ship at all.

Thanks for mentioning this. I've been using the EIS program since it was implemented. What I like most about it is exactly what you stated...no more worrying if my packages are going to receive an international scan or held up in customs for months. There are also no foreign transaction fees.
One more note on EIS: your international buyers will have to pay domestic and international costs. What I've done to encourage buyers, both domestic and especially international, is offer free shipping. Of course, the free shipping is only for domestic but it also reduces the amount the international buyer is charged in shipping. I set the price at what I would ideally like to receive but allow offers to account for some bargaining room.
I suggest others give it a try...if the program wasn't working, I definitely wouldn't use it.

Ryan,
My gut agreed with you, BUT, my belief stretching back several decades of self-employment is that I would rather try and fail than to wonder "what if." I sold a Blu-Ray set for $40. The buyer informed me there was a disc missing and filed an INAD. e-Bay handled the buyer, without any involvement with me, including paying him from their pot. So far, so good.

I assume you are baking the cost of the domestic leg of the shipping into your price which would be pretty easy do do since you could set the price the same not have to worry about differences in the cost since the buyer is paying you directly out of the sale for the shipping.
I suggest others give it a try...if the program wasn't working, I definitely wouldn't use it. I never was one to be on the bleeding edge of anything new. The transition to EIS is already having some major issues and I prefer to sit back and wait to see how this program shakes out and how many changes they make to the current policy with regards to the seller protection they are offering once it begins to have an adverse impact on either eBay's or the EIS contractors bottom line.
Maybe eBay will begin to feel some of the sellers pain from all the years of dealing with INR's, NAD's, empty box returns, buyer damaged merchandise, switched merchandise, chargebacks..................... To quote a line from a move "Welcome to the party pal"
