Shipping label issue

I sold 2 items that were listed separately to one buyer.  I had to print out two shipping labels (long story why) but shipped both items in one package using only one label.  Just realized that it won't be registered as delivered for the one item since I didn't use the label, which means I won't get paid.

Do you have a suggestion as to how I can remedy this misstep?

Thanks

You should have been paid before you shipped anything.

Did you not get paid yet?

You can go to the listing that you did not enter the tracking number for or the correct tracking number and enter the tracking number that you did use.

For the label you did not use you can ask for a refund within a few days of purchasing it.

Thinking outside the box... is there an option to Edit the tracking number? Put the real label's number in both Orders' fields?

If so, you could void the unused label since it won't be scanned. Wait for other posters... my idea might not hold water...

Go here to request a refund for the unused label.

https://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng/labels-history/seller-hub

It will take several weeks for a refund to be issued to your eBay account.

Yeah. There is an edit link next to the tracking number. Can then just change the tracking number to the one that got shipped.

For the label. If it's UPS or FedEx, don't worry about it. If USPS, can go to orders->labels and cancel it. Or you can use that link that was posted.

Your post didn't state this, but an earlier reply has suggested it:  I must assume that the buyer did pay you for his/her two purchases before you bought and paid and printed the two shipping labels.  If you bought postage before your buyer paid you, please, please, make sure the USPS does not get your package before the buyer pays you.

Now -- the fact that you bought and printed two labels, one for two items that were to be delivered to one and the same buyer:  this happened to me once, but it was before I was enrolled in Managed Payments, so PayPal was still handling all the money parts of the transaction.   Buyer paid for shipping for two items, but I was able to put them both into one box, so the buyer had over-paid for postage.

Cancelling one label was not a problem -- again, that was still in the (old) PayPal days.   As I recall, there was a box or an option to click in order to cancel a shipping label.  It took a few days before the cost of that unused postage was credited back to me.  I can't imagine that eBay's Managed Payments would make it difficult to cancel a shipping label, but I can't really speak to that because it hasn't happened to me since I've been in Managed Payments.   So I also can't tell you where to look for the option to cancel a label.

I DID send a message to my buyer, to give him a partial refund of the double postage charges he paid AND to let him know that he would be receiving only one box.  That didn't have much of an effect though, because when that box arrived, guy went ahead and filed an INR on one of those two items that were actually both inside the one box that he received.

He hadn't bothered to read or understand my communications to him.  He was just looking for the tracking numbers.  When he only got one package, he assumed the worst of me.  I immediately sent him a response to his INR with an explanation.  Again.  He answered saying, essentially, "ooooops, sorry, I didn't open the box yet and just assumed . . . . . . ."  Yeah, yeah.

Hope this works out for you!

In the future, when you print shipping labels, there is an option combine multiple orders to ONE shipping label.

I think the OP has this issue: The buyer bought 2 items. She shipped the 2 items in one box without combining them. Since you can't enter the same tracking # for more than one item (at least you couldn't the last time I tried), one item is showing as unshipped and she won't get paid until the item shows delivered.

@carolynnq

A few weeks ago, I had a customer who bought two items (separately) and I was able to use the same tracking number (for the one box they both shipped in) on both orders. I can tell you that it works now... since you tried it, anyway.

The fly in the OPs ointment was that the OP had purchased two labels and the tracking number for each had already loaded into each sale. We were giving workarounds to use the tracking number (for the shipped package) to show on both orders, so that eBay wouldn't be looking at the unused tracking number at all.
