Shipping fee miscalculation

One of the listings on eBay that I sold today resulted in a huge loss due to a miscalculation of the shipping fee. When I listed it, I selected “Buyer pays calculated shipping” and entered the correct weight and size of the shipping box. However, I ended up paying $23 for the shipping while the buyer only paid $4. Why could that happen?

Re: Shipping fee miscalculation

Was it the diapers?  https://www.ebay.com/itm/375460943610

I see the listing was set up with $4.95 flat rate shipping.  You may have chosen something incorrectly at setup, but if you think it was eBay's mistake you can reach out to them (I wouldn't expect anything, but it's your choice if you want to spend the time trying).

You can click the Help & Contact link and drill down to your issue, then begin a chat and type "Agent", or request a callback if that's offered.

You can contact them via Facebook, X, or Instagram apparently (I haven't used any of those except Facebook before):

https://www.facebook.com/eBay

https://x.com/askebay/

https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/ (this is the only one that has a dedicated seller page still, but all work)

Re: Shipping fee miscalculation

There's no reason to contact eBay. This was user error.

You mistakenly set up $4.95 flat rate shipping on the diapers @simply.-4753 instead of using calculated shipping based on package weight and dimensions. It stinks, but we're all human and mistakes happen. Double-check your other listings to make sure you don't see any funky shipping costs. Make adjustments if needed.
