Shipping address question

I have heard the eBay is going to start requiring that sellers ship from a certain address. In my case I drop off items at a variety of different local post offices depending on what else I am doing during the day. Is it really going to be an issue if I ocassionally ship a package from a zip code a town or two over from the adress I have registered with eBay???

Please post a link to where you read this. How is this "certain address" determined?

Using a different post office is simply a change done when printing the label. If I print my labels somewhere else, how is eBay going to know what I did?

Shipping address question

Currently, I ship from 3 different post offices, depending on which direction I am going.  That way the correct post office gets the credit.  Occasionally plans change, but it doesn't seem to drastically change anything except the information on the tracking.  The clerks at the post office have never said anything.  I don't think they even notice.

That doesn't sound right.

What you might have heard is that in the new Shipping Label form, they forgot to provide any means of changing the Shipped From ZIP field, which is printed near the Return Address on the label, and shows the ZIP code from which the prepaid postage was calculated, so that if the package is mailed from some ZIP code other than the one shown in the Return Address, the receiving post office will know that the correct postage was paid.

(Contrary to urban legend, it has nothing to do with which post office will get "credit" for handling the package. That is what the tracking system is for. "Credit" for handling, such as it is, goes to whichever facility scans the package, obviously.)

eBay is supposed to be working on getting that omission fixed. In the meantime, you can click the link in the upper right corner of the form to go back to the "classic" form, in which you change that Ship From ZIP value if desired.

No. The reality is that if the first three digits of the Ship From ZIP value match the first three digits of the post office you're using, you should be fine. It also doesn't matter if the Shipping method is not Zone based, such as for First Class Package items.

Shipping address question

I know that eBay has and will require sellers to jump through hoops sort of speak, and although I no longer list here I have a PO in my city, however, I hate going there, even as a child with my mother 🙂  I live on the borderline between the two (2) cities, but I use the one that is within walking distance and has a parking lot if I drove.

If any selling platform that I am still selling on make a requirement like that, I would completely stop selling online.  I refuse to become an eBay Stepford Seller.  eBay controls enough already from sellers

Isn't it a little early to assume Armageddon is here, when the OP hasn't even explained what they mean or shown where they read it?

It refers to the listing itself so I don't think it would matter

what local PO branch you drop off at.

Read the whole policy it is not that long.

Here is the gist of it.

I ship from different post offices, but the first 3 digits of the zip codes are the same. This means shipping costs and estimated delivery will remain the same as the location in my listing no matter which of these POs I ship from.
