Does eBay enforce the rules for shipping perfume via USPS First Class and Priority Mail? In researching comparable items I want to sell on eBay, I found that most sellers ship perfume first class mail. There are 100s of listings that do this, yet I can find nothing eBay publishes that says it is okay. Ebay resources state it must be shipped ground Parcel Post. I had a long conversation with USPS representative and she said (I have the transcript) that it can be shipped by first class mail. Will someone from eBay contact me?

It has nothing to do with eBay, it's a USPS restriction.

If USPS said that you can ship perfumes via First Class, So you don't have to worry about it or about ebay.

In some cases if it's not going far away, you can slap a Ground Only sticker on First Class or Priority packages (can get them from a clerk at the post office). But as a whole you should send ground. Preferably with a limited quantity label on the package so they know it's hazardous.
And eBay most likely won't do anything. But the post office or whomever might have words if they find out what's inside.
Edit: but now that most First Class goes ground now. It's possible they don't care anymore.

Ebay doesn't set the rules for the carriers, you need to check with the carriers and see what is and what isn't allowed.

I spoke with an eBay representative. She said if it is listed as an option when you are setting up shipping, you can use it. Good enough for me. Thank you.

I think you are correct. Ebay representative said it it is an option for shipping, you can use it. Thank you.

Sorry, but eBay reps are often clueless.

Even if it's OK, I wouldn't do it. I've seen what happens to liquids and glass when they're toted by air cross-country in the cargo hold.

I read your listing on the smash and grab again. I live in a great area with low crime. This has happened to the local ULTA twice. I buy from estates and local auctions. But like you, I see things listed all the time and think it was probably stolen from ULTA! You can blame eBay. How are they to know?

Wait. I thought you said USPS said it was ok. Don't listen to an eBay rep when it comes to shipping.
Pulling facts out of their butt is part of their job description.

I spoke to my post office supervisor who said you can print a first class label if it's under a pound. BUT the package must have some kind of sticker saying ground transportation only.

There are lots of shipping options on ebay. It does not mean that all are the correct one.

If CS said it, I can almost guarantee it isn't right.
