Going to work on organizing a work space for my eBay sales. Would appreciate input on what other sellers have done or have found to work for them regarding designating a room or area in their homes for this purpose. Photos welcome!

You sound a lot like me.
We worked in a very high fashion store and we dressed for it!!
The plan was to move on to another store, but.....
So, there is a lot to be sold. Many things unworn or barely.
(add in the weight gain from not being as active and let's just say I've left some clothes behind!!)
But the research! The Do I take a chance on trying to sell this?
Devoting time to ironing, photographing, MEASURING!!!
Part Of it too, is not having a full commitment to Ebay.
How deeply do I want to get into it?
When we started we planned on a few afternoons a week, a little money for a year.
What we found is, things, even priced well, relatively in demand, decent listings, can take a long time to move. (Storage discussion)
Listing is time consuming, lonely, not fun. And the disarray we live with.
With almost 100 things up, after a flurry of listing a few weeks ago, this week, we have had one sale.
Just had a friend chide me on, get rid of the things!! But, there is money there. Is it enough to be worth it?
And at some point, it's all in, or out. Part time isn't really working.
But is more commitment the right choice? More time, a bigger computer, better lighting set up, more storage?
What are anyone's thoughts? I'd love to hear!

I'm working on doing this too. My oldest is in college and currently storing all most everything she has in our spare bedroom but as soon as she retuns home and goes back to college I'm moving my eBay stuff in. That's the plan. I just need shelves and stuff to organize it.

Love that your cat has her own desk! I looked at your blog post and was so impressed by what you've done with your eBay room, especially how you've utilized the space under your desk and even the walls via shelves. You've done an amazing job, and I hope you won't mind if I borrow some of your clever ideas. What an inspiration! Wishing you continued success and lots of great sales!

Not for storing, I meant for shipping as added protection.
LOL I thought you meant for storing, too! Thanks for clarifying. I ordered a good supply of clear self-sealing poly bags in 2 sizes right after I shipped my first dress. I didn't have anything to put it in and ended up using an unscented 4 gallon white trash can liner, brand new of course, but I was so embarrassed to send it out that way that I immediately took stock of what I was going to need on hand and ordered a good supply of all of it at one time.

Thanks! You're very kind. If I have any ideas worth borrowing, please do so. Daisy the Cat likes to supervise, so a desk of her own was a must--it's actually a very nice chip-carved antique table that someone else wrecked before I got it so I didn't feel the least guilt about painting it a pretty color for the kitty .
Truth be told, in making my eBay room I only used what I already had on hand or what was given to me for free. And that was a challenge that worked out well because I was forced to get creative. If I had had money to buy new stuff, I don't think I could have made it work as well because I wouldn't have thought as hard about what I needed every inch of space to do.
I also tried to keep things bright and happy because I spend a fair amount of time in this little room. And, really, I need to spend even more time working on stuff! There's always more to list.

Oh, how I empathize! It's so hard to donate unworn clothing, some of which was definitely not inexpensive! I meant to do this BEFORE we moved, but kept putting it off (as you stated, the listing process can seem tortuous and overwhelming). So, I threw away and donated a lot then, but still ended up packing 5 wardrobe boxes, at least 3 of which were only my clothes. I think my husband's took up maybe I and part of a second. And these didn't even include the clothes and shoes that I most often wear to work, nor pullover sweaters, sweats, t-shirts, workout clothing, etc. My husband didn't lose his cool until it came to the shoes.
Funny thing, because I'd packed my work clothes, stuff I wear around the house, etc. separately, I soon realized that's all I really needed. So... the renewed venture into selling began. Now I'm stuck again with lister's block, and I'm going to just have to bite the bullet and get busy. TONIGHT!
Do I want to keep doing this once my current "stock" is depleted? I have no idea yet. I love it when an item sells, but the stress waiting for something to sell, the time commitment... I just don't know yet. I guess time will tell.
Meanwhile, may you have lots of sales! Best wishes for your success!
