Service metrics INR errant case

So, today is the last day a buyer of mine opened an INR claim. (No communication before that at all)

So, in archive posts on this forum with INr and seller has tracking #, it was stated that this will still count against the seller in their service metrics as unresolved with EBAY having to step in.

If this is true, (and it will hurt me tremendously as I’m just a very small seller and cannot take that hit) then what is the incentive here?

Is there an incentive to sellers not to get a ding and just give a refund?  Is this a way some people have gamed the system knowing this?

Im not suggestion she has done this.  I don’t know this person.  However, if it’s true, (that I’ll receive a ding to my service metrics) how many sellers just refund to save their metrics and how many buyers know this?

I uploaded tracking when I bought the label (thru EBAY) so that info was presented to the buyer immediately via the standard messaging when purchasing labels.

The email & following system interface that eBay gives you for an INR case allows you to either respond to the buyer or enter the tracking number to show proof of delivery to mark the case as "temporarily resolved."

As far as I am aware you can't get a defect on your account for an INR case that you have been updating properly?

Thanks.  The case was left with the buyer to respond after I uploaded tracking in the case.  Todays the final day.

To the best of my knowledge, and I don't believe this has changed, when a buyer opens an item not received case, but there is tracking indicating delivery, all the seller has to do is to enter the tracking number into the case.

You could, if you wish, suggest to that buyer that he check with family or neighbors to see if the package actually was received, which is something best done early in the game.  Also, depending on the carrier, he can double check with them.  There's also the possibility of porch pirates.

For US sellers, you are not dinged on your metrics if you have an INR case that you resolve or that is resolved in your favor when eBay steps in.  For international sellers, they are.  That's why you saw some conflicting information here on the boards.  You'll be fine in this case if the tracking shows Delivered.
