September not good

Anyone else having the worst selling month they've ever had? Buyers are far and few. Iv been selling for many years and this month has definitely the worst. Compared to last month, selling has taken a complete nose dive.

Back to school, less shopping time, more expenses.

Lots of peeps lost Unemployment Benefits.

Back to school/work means high child care & travel costs.

That means less expendable dollars.

Still warm, so, tons of amateurs selling at yard sales.

Online pickup venues, person to person sales.

Also, increasing postal costs.

All make buying local more affordable.

Re: September not good

Sales are up 141% for the last 31 days here. It will be the best month ever for us.  I've been selling for my employer for about 18 months.

I've taken the summer off on my personal selling account, so can't supply that sales info.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Re: September not good

Yes!  I had a terrible end of the month and so far September hasn't been good either.   I don't use promoted listings and now they are adding a new promoted listings that you bid for position on the search.  Totally unfair.  Ebay is no longer satisfied with their already inflated fees and want you to pay extra or be left out.  Sure wish they had some decent competition.

Either that or perhaps that with 20 million sellers there will always be some having good and bad months.

My August was relatively slow, but my September has been great.

Re: September not good

Expect low sales unless you are competitive with other sellers. I can buy your Oct 1993 playboy easily right now for under $40 and you want $75.

Re: September not good

I had a rare 0 sales day the other day ... but it was preceded by a record sales day the day before.

I've earned to expect erratic sales.

Good luck!

Well said.  Nothing to add, really.  Ebbs and flows.  So far September has not been great for Halloween sales, but everything else is exceeding expectations.   Every day is a new adventure.

Re: September not good

Sorry to hear that. My sales continue to increase. In all my 21 years of selling on eBay I have never had so many sales in the past two years then before. People are buying and will continue to, in my opinion, if they are concerned with going to brick n' mortar stores, shows and conventions. I attended a large convention in Chicago last month with thousands of dealers and attendees, of course I masked most of the time. 2 days after getting back to my office I get an email from the convention sponsors alerting those that attended to be cautious as they were getting reports of dealers and attendees testing positive. I have since canceled a couple of future conventions that I had planned. I also signed up for Google Ads about a month ago. Pretty expensive but I always wanted to give it a try. They were offering about half off for the first month. Looking at the click though numbers, I am not convinced that I will be continuing with my subscription. I guess what I would recommend, continue to mix it up with your listings. Take high quality photos and short precise descriptions. Be aware of the fact that the majority of items being sold on eBay are now being made with mobile devices. Keep your listings short and sweet to minimize the potential buyers from scrolling thru "stuff & fluff" Have a good day!

LOL!  It is funny how you can provide an example here but when you complain about my prices & I ask you to give an example of how my prices are higher than others, you come up with zero.    😛
