I have a sale going on (first time doing it) and I have a bunch of items in my send offers list. I don't want to send offers on top of my 20% sale. I shut off offers on the items I was putting on sale prior to the sale. I am unable to remove those items from the list unless I actually send them an offer. The list is getting long. Help!

If I am running a sale, many times those items will appear on my Send Offers list. I just ignore those, unless there happens to be an item that I have had for a while and will offer an additional discount on top of the one already running. For example, I might have things on sale for 20% off and I might offer an additional 5% off that.
Just because an item is on your Send Offers list doesn't mean you have to send offers on it. Just ignore the ones you don't want to send an offer to.

You never have to send an offer. They are just suggested by eBay through their system. No reason to go thru and shut off offers on your items. A sale is a sale. BTW I prefer coupons over sales. This is way easier for me and has been way more beneficial

When you select send offers the send offers list of items comes up; there is a delete Trash icon that you should be able to remove individual items from the send offers list.

What I do in that spot is: Offer the absolute minimum discount available. 5% I believe is the bottom.
It doesn't happen all that often to me, but ... I believe that offering a 'discount' in that situation is just a reminder that they should buy it. If one out of five buyers accepts your offer, it costs pennies.

Why are coupons better? I'm new to this sale thing I just set up a store. Fumbling through it.

@retro_licious I think they are better because they don't alter the prices in your store. I find it harder to deal with sales because after the sales sometimes my prices are messed up. We have over 2000 listings, so this is difficult. Coupons accomplish the same thing as a store sale without impacting item prices. What I mean by that is that if you happen to accept offers or lower prices during a sale it mess things up. I run coupons for 7 days with the percentage off I want to offer (usually 10% up to 20%) I can also exclude items from the sale, and do a price range (I usually do up to $30 or $40 items with the coupon)
I think the fact that the coupon is for a limited time entices people to buy also.
