Greetings Fellow eBay Sellers,
Are your sales better or worst than this time last year? Just wondering. Our store business is the lowest in several years. Thanks for your input.

We have lots of active threads on this subject. You might want to do a quick search of the open threads and see what others are saying there.
Keep in mind that sales are typically lower in the summer season, but what is a bit extra this year is we are in an election year for the president and people are really divided, many are simply scared of what the future holds for us. That will cause people to spend less on extra stuff.

January to March were strong, but those are usually my strongest months so no change there.
My sales are up in both number and value since the beginning of April.
The one oddity is that in May, my US sales, normally 85-90% of my transactions, suddenly were replaced by Canadian (for me, those are domestic) and overseas sales.
Again no drop in value or number, just many many fewer sales into what is normally my biggest market.

Of course jobs like that, retail, construction, laborer, grass cutter, food handler, waiter can get jobs.
Wow.
Have you ever held any of those jobs?
The guys who cut my grass have a Class Four driving license as well as great physical stamina.
My SIL is a finish carpenter. Red Seal Carpenters start at $75 an hour on union sites.
Nephews in small engine repair, mechanics, electricians earn similar wages. And the jobsites are advertising for more workers.
All have many years of apprenticeship and training to do the jobs you are shrugging off.

Re-read because your lack of comprehension is showing.
Those jobs you mentioned, engine repair, mechanics, electricians, plumbers, welders are all skilled labor and take brains to do it.
Don't be lumping those jobs in the generic construction/labor area where no skill is involved or any shred of intellect is involved.. You entirely missed the point where I said jobs that have a low barrier to entry.
My god people. No wonder the USA is falling behind in IQ.

Where did I even mention low jobs aren't actual jobs?
Stop putting words in people's mouth. Low end jobs are jobs that a high schooler would work in their spare time. Literally the same ones you would apply to when you get out of school or make pocket money.
It's not a job in which the average adult would support themselves on. Hence a stepping stone to acquiring experience or skills if the job entails.
There is a reason why they call it minimum wage jobs which is low end jobs. Understanding?

I have a friend who is a carpenter and he says they are desperately hurting for skilled carpenters. His company keeps having to turn down jobs because they literally do not have the manpower for the work that people are asking them for.

You just proved my point right there. Keyword: "Skilled."

If someone lacks any sort of skills or education to qualify them for any job that isn't just minimum wage retail that even a high schooler could do, I fail to see how that is anyone's fault other than their own.

You put the words into your own mouth:
You confuse low end jobs for actual jobs that require a high level of skill or education.
Of course jobs like that, retail, construction, laborer, grass cutter, food handler, waiter can get jobs.
Perhaps you just need to explain better to we low IQ types. 🙄

I suspect most people know if they were better off before or now ?
I suspect they do as well, but I didn't say anything about that.

I think this may very well depend on where you are located and what kind of industry is in your neck of the woods.
For where I live it is jobs of all levels. For those that don't have college degrees and for those that do. We have lots of high tech industries, high tech medical industry, aerospace, manufacturing firms, restaurants, etc. If you want a job, you are likely able to find one around here that fits with your experience and education.
