Selling items through ebay

Ok I’m looking for some information here. Please help. I’m interested in an item seen on  local FB Marketplace for a very low price. Messaged the seller who had me contact “sister” that was the real seller. She claims that she is selling through eBay & that we would have item shipped for free to us & we wound have 5 days to decide if we want to purchase the item before payment was sent. I’m thinking this is a scam because the item is. NOT listed on eBay. This is for a boat! Any help?? Is this a scam??

Total scam.  If it's too good to be true, normally isn't a legitimate listing.  Just looking to steal someones money.  Don't respond.

I think it's a scam.  There are many people posting similar situations on here and they are always scams.

Big fat scam and an old one to boot. Just take a look at the posts about this scam on the Motors board, report the item to the site you saw it on.

More than likely a scam but if they are in fact selling through eBay have them send you the listing number and if the price is still the same you can purchase it through eBay so you have the MBG coverage. Not sure why you say it is NOT listed on eBay given the poor quality of the eBay search engine at the moment.

I'm in the 'Scam' camp. Stay away from this transaction.

You are smart to see if it was listed on eBay.

It's  not and it's a very common scam this thief is using  to steal eBay gift cards.

The boat was priced extremely low to get your interest.

Then they get your information and send you a FAKE "eBay" invoice promising protection and perks that eBay doesn't offer.

Glad you didn't fall for it. Many do. BILLIONS are sent to scammers this way.

Car? Motorcycle? Tractor? Boat?

Sad story about the reason it has to be sold?

You will pay with gift cards?

Of course, it's a scam.  Stop and think rationally for a minute.  Why would eBay ever be involved in a sale on another site when they have their own site?  Read back on the boards a few pages.  This scam attempt has gone on for ages and will continue for ages.  Good  you were smart enough to ask about it.

It ISN'T listed on eBay.  That's the point here.  A common scam.  The scammer states that it's listed on eBay so the potential buyer will believe he has eBay's protection.

. . . and a 7-10 day trial period to boot.  Think about this:  Who is stupid enough to ship a boat, a car, a motorcycle, a tractor etc to a total stranger for a trial period.  Does this make sense to you? Is that something you would feel comfortable doing if you were the seller?
