Selling for the first time

I've never sold anything on eBay before and I'm trying to list something and have no idea how I'm going to get paid for it. I don't have a PayPal account do I need to get one? Is Paypal the way they pay you? I don't see anything to enter bank account information so how in the world does eBay pay you for your item sold. There is no article explaining this very well anywhere on eBay. I want to list my item right away but have no idea how to accept payments from ebay. Please... any advice

PayPal is a thing of the past now as ebay has moved on to Managed Payments. You can purchase items with PayPal here (and there are buyer protections with it) but sellers cannot use it to receive payments anymore.

Payments are now Managed by ebay and they use a 3rd Party Payment Processor called Adyen. I added some links that explain what managed payments is, how to register, and Adyen's stite (If you wanted to learn more about them.) I have been selling with managed payments for a while now and it has been very easy for me to use 🙂

Thank you. I did find something but eBay keeps saying their not ready for me to update my account. Ugg. I have an emergency. I have a rare item that is selling quickly. I can't list items if eBay will not let me update my account. Ugg

Try going to your Payments and see if there is a "Managed Payments" notice. Then it should let you set up your managed payments account. Keep in mind you will need the following to sign up for managed payments:

• Social Security Number (For Tax Reporting purposes)
• Bank Account # (To deposit said payments)

To enroll in Managed Payments you need to provide CHECKING ACCOUNT (9-digit routing number only) and Social Security# (for tax purposes).    Important that name on your checking account, social security card and EBAY profile page are EXACT MATCH.    You cannot use "nicknames" or your application may be rejected.

With MANAGED PAYMENTS you get paid 3-5 AFTER sale.   EBAY deducts Selling Fees & Shipping Costs (balance if deposited into your checking account).   EBAY holds back "shipping money" so there is money in your account to print label.   When you print label (go to bottom of page) and click "use pending funds".

EBAY seller fees based on (purchase price + shipping costs  + sales tax) plus 30 cent handling.   EBAY collects "sales tax" from customer and sends to your State (on your behalf).   But you still have report all income to IRS and State (lots of bookkeeping involved).   Listing fees occur for each item every month (over and over for as long as item is listed). .
