Does anyone here sell consignment

Selling consignment

@beenancyb516

The question is a little vague..

Do you mean sell consigned items in a brick & mortar, in addition to eBay?

Do you mean will they take other people's items on consignment and sell for them?

This is not likely at all. Too many financial details and too many risks.

I've sold consignment for years - what is your question?

Yes. Are you looking for advice or just curious if others do?

If you have gold or silver coins or bullion, original Tiffany lamps, or Picasso oils, I'll sell them for you. My take is 50% of the net.

Wow. Even pawn shops don't offer 50% of the value on bullion. That does say allot how you treat others that may help or need to sell quickly.

It's almost like your own personal tariff. YMMV

Sad. 😓

Can you be specific?

Is the question - do you buy&sell consignment on Ebay?  Yes there are a lot of consignment shops (buy & sell) on Ebay.

Is the question - do you recommend selling to consignment shops?

Be specific.

There are several online consignment buyers & sellers (50%) like Thredup and the Realreal.

I see you are a seller so if you are asking if you should sell other people's things on consignment, the quick answer is "it depends".

It depends on whether you are willing to undertake photographing, listing, etc. etc. all of the things that are required with selling for a percentage of the profits.  You would have to sell under your ID so all gross sales would be added to your 1099 for income tax purposes and you would have to pay tax on them.   Chargebacks can show up for up to six months after the delivery of the item which can throw a kink into payouts. So it depends on whether you want to deal with these or not.

Most sellers are not willing to spend the time and energy required  to sell other people's items.  For the time and financial involvements, it isn't worth it.   But you have to decide for yourself whether it would be worth it to you.

I've done it in the past.  It's been a long time now.  Not worth the hassle for me anymore, but I have plentiful inventory avl to me at all times.

You would only have to pay income tax on your profit, minus expenses, from the sale of something for someone else.

Nope, not worth the effort.  People that have asked me to sell things for them are usually shocked at the lack of value of what they have.  Never made money doing it

@beenancyb516 @ I done it but in my opinion not worth the hassle. I rather guide someone to sell the item on their own
