Why is ebay stealing their final value fees by including the SHIPPING charge in their fee evaulation??? THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! I sold a lot of children's books for 99 cents and my FVF was $1.49!!! **bleep**!!!!???? I am at my wits end with their THEFT... I am going to find ways to USE ebay to MY benefit and they can go SCRATCH!!! And this isn't the only listing that they've ripped me off... it happens ALL THE TIME!!!

Why would you sell an item for $0.99? I think you have been on Ebay long enough to know about pricing your item and fees, good luck on future sales.

While I agree that I find ebay's fees to be excessive, especially in that they take a cut of both shipping and sales tax, it is not as if we are forced to sell here and, though I have whinged about it in the past, I have learned it is useless to complain about it. If you had a brick and mortar store would you pitch a fit about having to pay rent to the owner of the property you sell from? It is simply the cost of doing business. Charge more for what you sell and pass your overhead costs to the consumer.

That was an approach to Auctions that Ebay would recommend a decade or more ago. It was something that did work back when auctions would get a dozen bidders on most listing. That is not the case anymore on a regular basis. The competition is too stiff. It is something that sellers should learn to retire and go with starting an auctions for their break even amount and go from there.
We just have so many sellers now and so many listings. What worked a decade ago doesn't so much anymore.

Excessive compared to WHAT? What are you comparing the fees Ebay charges to? To be excessive you have to have a comparable.

Excessive. More than is desirable.
Relax, or do you work for ebay?

You have to have a base point to determine if something is excessive. It was a simple question, nothing more. I'm not upset, so no need to relax.
Why would I work for Ebay? Because I asked you a question?

Since you've been on ebay for quite a while, I'd think by now you wouldn't be surprised by the site's fees lol. Clearly many ebay sellers still worked by ebay (time after time) and that is just the cost of doin business here. For the kids books that had that a FVF 1.49 which is .50 over the item price (that is def ludacris), but you could just put the est S&H cost to the item price and offer Free shipping to customers. At least the FVF will be lower pd by whatever you can recoup from the sale. Good luck!

All this brouhaha over a measly 99 cent sale?
Sorry, I don't get it.
Especially because YOU are the one who offered them at a ridiculously inexpensive price.

Op is still running 99c auctions......so she must consider them worthwhile on some level.......

My general rule is that I don’t list anything with an item price below $10. I’m a bit flexible, but I try to stick to that. The majority of my items I make myself, so I have to consider cost of materials, time I invested in making it, how much profit I feel need to make on it, etc.
Back in the very early days, there wasn’t the competition there is now. I collect Fontanini nativity items. The early days of eBay had about 25 - less than one page - of Fontanini items listed at one time. Now there’s over 5000. Times have changed, and sellers have to completely overhaul their business occasionally to stay competitive.

This fee schedule has been in effect for many years, it didn't just spring up here overnight.
When selling low dollar items like yours, seems like it would be more practical to bundle maybe three books in one listing and price accordingly.
Most smart sellers don't list items for less than ten bucks.
