Seller performance vs eBay performance

12 years with eBay. At least twice a year, changing programs, changing their fees, their responsibilities. Now, with 100% feedback, I am losing Top Rated because I was taken to the hospital, by ambulance, in January and February, and admitted. Released with restrictions and bed rest. Bay “can’t’ fix it. So sorry. Oh, did I mention the reason I was hospitalized was because of stress? Funny little eBay quirk I had, too. After my item would sell, it would relist. No wonder eBay is about 5th on the list of sites. It’s not the sellers, eBay, it’s you! It is not worth being a good seller. I really do not think eBay has the right to discriminate against me because I was ill.

At your present rate of sales, you'll be Top Rated again in a month. If I had been ill for 2 months, a "Top Rated" rating on eBay would be at the bottom of my list of concerns. Maybe the stress issue is being caused by treating even small things as a crisis.

Could've been worse.

About 8 years ago I was told by a doctor I needed to go to the hospital because my white blood cell count was WAY above normal, not just fighting infection high but a ways past that... I knew they were serious, I asked if I could drive myself there, the doctor said yes, they can't hold me or force me but that I really should go.

I did, after I stopped by the house, put my eaby store on vacation AND stopped all sales.

Then I grabbed a few things, made a couple of phone calls and all in all, about an hour or two after the doctor's advice I was in the hospital.

We had a storm come through here in January, it promised to be a good one.

Once I knew there was a good chance the power might go out, same thing:
Store on vacation, stop all sales.

I'm glad I did, only lost power for 24 hours but ...

Any orders that come through in a time that I can't fulfill?
Bad news folks, defects happen because of those things, one per order.

In mild cases it just dings your metrics a bit, in slightly worse cases you lose TRS...

But if it's really bad they could permanently ban the account from selling...
That may be a bit far fetched but it's not impossible.

I take my selling on eaby seriously.

I thought some sellers should know this now.

It shows that you are currently a TRS.  I would worry more about my health than my ebay status and use the vacation setting whenever needed.  Hope you are better now.

The rules about defects and fulfilling transactions were established long before you got ill, and were available for you to see for all 12 of those years that you were on eBay. 

And during all 12 of those years that you were on eBay, it would have taken just a few minutes to hand a sheet of paper to a family member, friend or trusted associate with instructions about how to shut down yoiur eBay account in the event of an illness or accident. 

IMHO this was not "discrimination" by eBay, it was a lack of prudent planning on your part.

Sorry this happened to you but one thing I have learned, not to worry about TRS or any other performance rating and just do the best I can as a small business owner. I wouldn't give much credit to a few of the snotty remarks here either. Get well.  And remember, in a hundred years it ain't gonna matter.

Im having similar problem. For last three months i have received notice of under performing. For first time in over 20 years. Although i have been told i can work on it and fix it. I have found out i cant. In the three months that i have been getting these notices. I have sold 26 items with not one problem and my defect rating has gotten worse. So much for me doing anything. I have talked several times and just get a run around. Some one emails to performance group. Then performance group sends me same email/ This or that can not longer be appealed. or can not be elevated. Not to mention you cant get a person to actually explain what is happening. I remember similar mess when they tried to use only customer feedback for evals. Well seems this is my last chance or i guess they are going to cancel my selling account. So much for customer service from ebay to their own sellers. Anyone with any answer please let me know

Run around! I had item that paypal put on my performance about item no resolution. .82. I am now paying 5 percent extra to ebay, because of it and also blocked for selling certain things. I have been with ebay for over 10 years, and would put my feedback against anyone at 100 percent and has been for 10 years. And i contacted ebay from the day it happened in Oct about them having error problem on there side, not allowing me to refund seller. Also contacted paypal at the time, as they werent doing it either. Neither one helped me get refund to the seller. Mean time the seller files complaint. It sits now on my performance review minus . 82 i am paying and extra 5 percent on my sales and blocked form selling somethings since Oct. I have asked ebay over and over again. Her is there answer. Its beyond time to review it. Well yea it is, it only showed up as negative in my performance after time to review was up. I mean ebay is using this against me for 365 days of it happening. My review time given there was actually any in this case there was none is 90 days. Really. How does that seem correct. Again ebay refused to answer the question. How in the world can you use this against me. When it didnt show up on performance review till it was already out of date for review. They either cant or wont answer it. Yes this was another case of them changing program or changing how they are doing something. And i get stuck with there bad performance. Man sounds like run around to extract more in payments, and not allowing sellers to sell. What am i paying full amount to have a story when ebay wont allow me to sell.

I am not. And literally for mistake ebay made, Read above i am now paying extra 5 percent per purchase to them as well as blocked from selling things. And no its not minor issue to me. They literally gave  me not path to get out of the one i am in. Only answer i get is you need to sell more this month then same month a year ago. Sound like fine way to get more money out of the seller, along with them now collecting money for handling the funds for purchase. As well as instant payment gone. Ebay and paypal where once the same company. Funny isnt it. Ebay goes back to doing the same thing they where doing when the two where together. Collecting more money they dont want paypal to get. And yea i have been doing this one long time,.Check out my feedback for as long as you can. I seller alot of coins over 1000 dollars. And to be honest ebay has had the worst turn over from one program to another, and there thoughts on any seller protections is **bleep**. Pure an simple. All of which is my problem with them. But sellers and future sellers should be aware of exactly they work things

Sad to say im in totally different position. I have and item counted against my performance as no resolution. When ebay was changing back to collecting payments again as they did when ebay and paypal where same company. I tried to refund a customer, at least three times through ebay refund. Kept getting error message. Contacted ebay by phone 3 times no resolution. Contacted paypay no resolution. Ebay was putting in there program and they had problems as they always do. Then all of a sudden it shows up on my performance review. .82 minus. Yea now since oct taking over 5 percent of every sale and got me blocked in some. I contacted and tried to have the item review at the moment it first showed up. Guess what, Since they just put in the program and took them time. The time it hit my performance review it was already out of time to have it review. Only answer i can get from ebay, is its out of time to review. Well no joke it was since the day you used it to gig my account. Oct till today i can get no one no one to actually look at how it happened and why. I suspect there are many many many more out there with same problem. And yea been around for 10 12 years and ebay is always changing **bleep**. And to be honest none has really worked to help sellers in about the last 6 years. And no all my problem with ebay. Im sure there are many others. And let this stand for the type of business that ebay does, And let sellers and future sellers be warned

I’m sorry, it was rough for me to follow exactly what you mean, except that eBay won’t let you sell, that you are having to pay the penalty of 5% more on Final Value fees, and other restrictions. 

There are 72 listings up for you currently that i can see. So despite the issues you have been having, your selling privileges are still intact. It looks like eBay is giving you a chance to improve your standing.

PS-Some unsolicited advice: in the future, you might consider starting your own thread. Perched here on the tail end of an old one, your voice is not prominent and gets lost in the shuffle. People may respond thinking the OP is the current voice, when it is really you.
