Hi, I wonder if a more experienced seller can educate me. I sold a poster 2 months ago. I have pictures of it being in mint condition. I listed no returns. EBAY has the money back guarantee of 30 days I believe. All of a sudden 2 months later the buyer wants a refund and states it has a crease through the middle. I declined the return but he now has a claim with his credit card company and EBAY has a negative dollar amount on my account. If this poster was not correct when you received it why wait 2 months? I can't take it back if he ruined it and resell it. I don't know if he ruined it or is having buyers remorse but does anybody have my back? What recourse do I have? Am I out my money and my merchandise? Is there no time limit and can buyers just get away with this?

I am reading this and learning a LOT. Thank you for letting others learn from this very unfortunate deal...it is completely unfair. You probably just saved others some heartache and money...maybe that will smooth it out a tiny bit for you.

You may want to try posting your issue to the Community Chat today. See the top post on the Seller Boards for related info.
To contact ebay CS you need to click on Ebay Help at the top of any page. Scroll to the bottom of page and select 'Contact Us', select the applicable option on next page, this should lead to another page allowing you to have ebay call you. Since you have a chargeback open on your account there should be the option to select it, which should lead to having ebay call you.

You can contact eBay via social media with a private message:
AND-OR
Ebay customer service is superior on those sites.

As you have found out, it's better then nothing.
No one said you had to be happy about it, but myself, I'd rather pay to have a damaged item sent back, then just let the buyer have it.

In these particular circumstances it could be argued that eBay has your back as case opened on eBay is closed without a refund to buyer.
Claim opened with buyer's credit card is a different matter and eBay have no say in this. Credit card issuers have their own standards/ rules and these are governed by financial services act and this allows recourse for 180 days from date of payment.
Seller has limited opportunity to present their case and all you can do is state date that item was delivered and that buyer is making a false claim 2 months later as defect would have been visible on the day that buyer received the item and hope that Credit card issuers decides in your favour and it is worth noting that eBay are not allowed to or play any part in this decision making.
Unfortunately in these charge back cases no one has seller's back and outcome is a lottery with odds stacked against seller. You can respond on the case and say that you will accept a return and this should result in your buyer being forced to send the item back at his cost but there are no guarantees that you will received back the same item that you sent and or in same condition as when you sent it.
I have personal knowledge of how this kind of fraud feels and you have my sympathy and I hope that it works out to your satisfaction.

Buyer will always win. Because you wouldn't let customer "return item" customer's only option was to do "credit card chargeback". Buyers gets to keep item and your money.
Even if you have NO RETURNS...customer still has 2 options to get their money back. EBAY Money Back Guarantee by claiming "not as described, defective, counterfeit" (you are forced to return purchase price) plus shipping BOTH ways. Customer are NOT have to prove their claims. Second way is using "credit card chargeback" (keep item and your money).
If you try to "dispute" credit card chargeback...you WILL LOSE and EBAY charges you additional $20 fee (plus you get "defect" on your account). You can never win against buyer.
Always better to allow returns (at least you get your item back).
