Sold a very high price item in June. Delivery confirmation showed it was delivered AND signed for at the correct address. Buyer states he never got it, demands a personal refund. I contact ebay to ask what to do? They said sit tight, he has to file a claim through ebay, don't refund him. So I did as asked--stupid I know. Next thing I know he filed a claim with paypal. Again I called ebay and let them know. They stated they work closely with Paypal, again don't worry about it. Meanwhile Paypal retracted payment and slapped me with a $20 fee on top of that for their pain and suffering in having to debit my payment. Then very quicklky I got an email saying they have decided in favor of the buyer.
Called ebay and they said there is NOTHING they will do for me. So now I'm without the item and the payment. I know I have been scammed by this guy, and Paypal and Ebay couldn't care less.
SELLERS BEWARE: you are not protected. Ebay doesn't protect you. It works against you. I have been an ebay member since 2000 and today is my last day. I will tell everyone I know this is a dangerous place to sell.

If it makes you feel any better (which it won't) the same thing can happen to buyers also. Just happened to me only in reverse!

Correct, on a PAYPAL dispute.
This sounds like the buyer bypassed Paypal entirely and went directly to their credit card. Paypal has no say in those.

On a chargeback PayPal doesn't require anything from the buyer. A chargeback means the buyer went to their card issuer and disputed the charge. So the outcome is determined by the card issuer. Paypal is the one that gets hit by the card issuer and they in turn hit the seller and on an SNAD, it's been said that PayPal doesn't even really fight on the sellers behalf. I don't know how true that is this days though, I did recently see a seller win an SNAD chargeback after the buyer had filed with eBay and lost as well.

You are correct. According to the Paypal User Agreement, even on SNAD claims with them there is no "seller protection". I wasn't aware of that little "catch". It's almost like they want to help the scammers sometimes.

From my understanding they have no choice. If they want to continue to process credit cards they have to abide by any and all of the credit card company rules and decisions. If they do not they lose their ability to process credit card payments.

Seller protection has always and soley refered to Inr cases where seller has proof of delivery to address on order.
In a chargeback paypal has no say it what is required of buyer,the card co. makes that call and the decision.
