Saved listing templates

What happened to them?  I just went into 'create listing' and the templates are no longer available.  The only choice you have is to enter listing title and start from scratch.  Anyone else having this problem?  The templates have totally disappeared.  PIA

Anyone have any idea of an alternate way to locate them?  Thanks.

Not sure, sorry.

This new one is so hard to read, tho.  Seems to me they would have been better off just updating the old, more polished listing tool with everything on it already.   I mean, why re-build the wheel?  I can't decide whether to stick with this one and adjust or go back to the easier to use form.  This one will be forced on us anyway before long, (the one that clearly looks like a 6 yr. old came up with), - if only because it is more awkward to us to use.  I mean, did they not get any feedback before on this thing when they tested it?

Hi there. I've noticed ebay, unfortunately, tends to try to reinvent the wheel a lot. Smiley Wink

Re: Saved listing templates

I generally use "sell similar" from one of my sold or unsold listings, then simply paste new description details into the HTML tab and replace images.  Sometimes I modify shipping information or category but the template's basic boilerplate generally is adequate.

To locate a saved template that is not among recent listings (more than 60 days), I start with the "Sell" link on the toolbar, available at the top of any eBay screen.  The menu of up to 10 saved templates is just below the slot that allows searching for an appropriate category via keywords or UPC/ISBN. Links to create or manage templates are beneath the menu.

I do the same. In twelve years I have never once used a template.

Sell similar>insert new item title, desc, pics, price, etc>list>done.

Re: Saved listing templates

eBay disabled the old http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll link which had all templates available - they've finally managed to implement them on the new Fisher-Price listing form so one can store templates there - go through the 'sell' link and at the bottom of the page you'll see "listing templates" and a 'create template' button. You can build your library there.

Regardless of whether people use templates or not, those of us who do use them find them to be very time saving - particularly if you list a variety of items, or a certain item which has a variety of types (I've sold a lot of kimono for instance) and really would rather not hunt through all of one's listings to find that one item to 'sell similar.' I've used templates from the get-go - never repeat work I've already done.

As for the new listing form - my only beef with it, now that they fixed the template issue, is you have to be very careful with uploading photos if you drag and drop - I'm a fast worker and have crashed the listing form more than a few times because the site is so slow.  Now now I putt-putt-putt draaaaag the photos over and hope it doesn't crash again.  Tradesy does that, too.

Re: Saved listing templates

Had discussion with ebay concerning reason for disappearance of our saved listing templates..... all techs dont understand this issue but supv techs seem aware that ebay scuttles old saved templates every time they update the listing tools because everyone's saved listing templates were usually created with different, now obsolete listing tools and ebay thinks forcing use of the new listing tools is better than using our old saved templates created with old listing tools?.......go figure.
Anyway, as has already been disclosed, you can just go to the secret ebay ManageTemplates link [ http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ManageTemplate ] to both see and use your old saved listing templates, if you can remember to do that.
Not the simplest solution but at least we found them!

Re: Saved listing templates

This is a very old thread.  I have since this time learned the beauty of 'sell similiar' as advised by other posters on this thread.  One of the best ebay tricks ever!  Sell similiar works like a charm for me and I have no need for stored templates any longer.

Re: Saved listing templates

Its an old thread but a continuing issue for lots of people that use this feature - because ebay keeps on deleting saved listing templates every time they update their listing tools.

'Sell similar' is a great solution if your listing is recent enough to still be available to do that... they are deleted after 60 days and you can't see or use them after they're gone. Listing templates were created & saved for the long-term, and the ebay system used to retain  'Saved listing templates' permanently in the system, so people created them for future use long after 'sell similar' was no longer available. I've got a few saved templates from 5 years ago that are detailed enough I don't want to have to re-create them for a possible new listing next week, there's no 'sell similar' option available for an item you sold 1,2,3,etc years ago so you have to start over unless a saved template is still around.
