If you do not use Business Policies, then you are selecting shipping options on each listing.
When you select your shipping options there is a "Handling Time" selection.
If you really feel that you can ship the same day EVERY DAY .. then change the handling time to Same Business Day
Me, I would just leave it at 1-Day and ship same day when I can ... it really doesn't make that much of a difference ... and if you can't ship same day for any reason, you dont have to.
If, for whatever reasn you cannot ship same day, and your handling time is set to same day, you will get "late shipment" defects.
