Sales

Sales has dropped dramatically on Ebay. Why? One of the reasons is the high fees that ebay charges that makes sellers to rise prices on their items.  Also I attribute the change on ebay financing methods that changed claiming that it would be better for sellers when in reality we were better off with the old method. Also in my case I seen Ebay break their own policies. I am tented to cancel my two accounts or switch to other selling sites.

@kensgiftshop  True. Although unemployment has dropped back to prepandemic levels  it will take a while for families to feel confident.

The “unemployment rate” is a government manipulated fiction.

Here’s how it works. They take the number of people LOOKING for work as a percentage of the number of people working.

BUT notice that they use the “number of people LOOKING for work.”

Let’s say that there are 100 million people working and 6 million people actively LOOKING for work. The unemployment rate is 6%.

BUT if a million of that 6 finally said screw it - I’m just going to mooch off my rich relatives, go lie on the beach, rob a bank, sell drugs - whatever. But even if an actual million do not drop out all the government has to do is DECLARE that a million have dropped out. Same effect.

Now the calculation is 100 million people working but only 5 million people actively LOOKING for work.

PRESTO the unemployment rate suddenly drops to 5%. WOW LOOK AT THAT IMPROVEMENT !!!!!

But it’s a lie

First lesson we learned in accounting - figures never lie but liars figure.

(That million is calculated as a deduction from the "participation rate".)

"Laissez-faire capitalism (AKA The Great Material Continuum) is the only social system based on the recognition of individual rights and, therefore, the only system that bans force from social relationships." ~ Ayn Rand

Everything they say is a lie.  The only way they can gain any support whatsoever is to put out a story saying they are doing better than Mr. Trump did.

@kensgiftshop

Around here, places are having to shut down because they can't get anyone that wants to work.

So there are too few workers for the number of jobs available?

That is how you get low unemployment rates.

No, there's plenty of workers, they just don't want to work.

Have a great day.

...which tells you that it the pay - or lack there of - is a big part of the problem.  If welfare pays more than that job, then that job is meant for teenagers in high school or retirees looking for something to do...keep active and earn a little extra spending money.

There was a time where these "jobs" were those that you could make a living off of...not get rich...just make a living.  Now you need two of those jobs and it still does not add up to make a living...here anyway.  These are called dead end - go nowhere jobs.

There was also a time (long time ago) where it was common to be a one income family...where daddy went to work, mommy stayed home and watched the kids and soap operas and took care of the house and guess what?  They could do all of that, take care of the bills AND save for retirement too!  WOW!   Now even a two income family is not enough for basic living.  What does that tell us about the economic system that we live in?

I am definitely NOT a socialist by any means but run away capitalism isn't all that either.

Capitalism...I guess that means to capitalize on others...bring me truckloads of moolah and I'll give you 2 cents for your time and toil.

Guess people are seeing this and are not willing to do it anymore.  Many have started their own businesses and if they only earn the same amount that these help wanted jobs offer, they are doing it with less hours put in.  More family time!

Re: Sales

Well  capitalism used to help many become small business owners and thrive but not so much in todays economy, but also depends in what venture you enter into

Many do not want that direction in life and want to offer a skill like welding, mechanics, truck driving but cannot due to cost of living or state by state regulations on business.

There is no simple answer to any of this BUT hard to get people to work when they can earn same or more collecting unemployment , and who can blame them?

E-X-A-C-T-L-Y!!!

Which means that employers (especially those publicly traded ones) need to pay more.  It has to start at the top...like the top fortune 500 and there are those companies up there who pay their people below $15 an hour so no, I don't feel sorry for these big businesses who cannot fill their positions.  Their board members are needing to realize that a 50 or 70 million dollar ANNUAL bonus for the CEO + golden parachute needs to be reduced - pay your workers.  Sorry CEO...we can only give you a 20 million dollar bonus this year...1f62d.png

Now, if the big corps (and they are starting to) paid people more to live, those people (employees) in turn will buy more...spend more eating out etc...which in turn allows those medium & smaller businesses the ability to pay their workers more.  It all starts at the top and until those folks up there figure that out, I guess there are going to be help wanted signs lingering.  I have actually seen some help wanted signs weathered from being out so long!

...Oh well...

I find it hilarious that people are claiming that no one wants to work. When I dropped some packages at the PO the other day, I did a couple of errands at the same time... every single cash register in TJ Maxx had a cashier behind it (and there were other employees out on the floor straightening up the displays), and Starbucks had one cashier on the register and five baristas making drinks. At my own job, people keep coming in and asking if we're hiring and the answer is no because we're full up on staff and no one is leaving.

Amazing how many people do in fact want to work when the minimum wage is over $15.
