Sales Tax

Does eBay collect sales tax for each state that requires it and pay it to the state?

Sales Tax

Yes but not all states have a marketplace facilitator law as far as I know. If you live in a state with no MFL you are still required to handle taxes for your in state sales

Sales Tax

Yes, eBay is required to collect and remit the sales tax on sales being delivered within states that have enacted marketplace facilitator laws.  For those states that have sales/use tax laws in force but have not enacted marketplace facilitator laws, the seller, if required to collect sales tax under their state law, may have eBay add it to the buyer's bill and then the seller must remit it to their respective state.  However, if the seller is not required to collect it, the buyer is responsible for paying it to their state themselves.

Of course, there are, I believe, four or five states that do not charge their residents sales/use tax.
