You don't have to do this; Ebay automatically figures the sales tax depending on the final price and the tax district of the buyer. It is automatically added to the invoice sent to the buyer.

The sales tax depends upon the state where the buyer is located -- not the seller.
The sales tax is automatically determined by eBay, depending upon the buyer's location.

I just got a negative from a buyer that complained that I did not advise him of possible sales tax. Ebay agreed with buyer and will not remove the negative.

Buyer gave me a negative for not putting in possible sales tax. Ebay agreed and will not remove the negatrive

Then that's up to you if you want to add to your listings that Ebay will collect sales tax if applicable.
When I buy an item on Ebay, I see VERY CLEARLY at checkout that I will be paying sales tax for my state. Odd the buyer in this case didn't see that the final total they were paying was higher than they expected

Wrong. I just got a negative for not advising a possible sales tax in my listing. Ebay agreed with buye and will not remove the feedback

Buyer gave me a negative for not including possible sales tax in my listing. Ebay agreed and will not remove negative.

Perhaps eBay's decision was influenced by the reply you left for that buyer.
Was going to suggest you try to get that neg removed, but now that I have seen your response . . .

numpty buyer, but as for the feedback removal ..................... there was more than just the sales tax mentioned.
Some buyers do not expect to pay sales tax on "coins", but all listing show that "taxes may be applicable at
checkout"
Listing category can cause "tax or no tax" variations from state to state. It would be nice if buyers were in tune with that fact, but many are not.

Yes, buyer complained that I didn't give him coins that were not included in the listing. That is against Ebay policy

the buyer claims he 'asked 'you about sales tax on coins bc he wanted to know how much he would have to pay in total, not that you did not put it in the listing. your answer to him was quite rough.
he also complained about the wheat pennies he received. these are buyer opinions, factual or not, and ebay won't remove 'opinions'.
you can offer the buyer to return the pennies if he is dissatisfied.

what is wrong with my response? I told him how do I know what state the bidder lives in? And to contact Louisiana Tax department or Ebay. Ebay added the sales tax not me. Did I hurt his feelings? He also expected coins that were not in the listing. How should I have responded?
