Is it my responsibility or ebay's to notify the buyer of my revised listing. I used "sell one like this" to post and missed a inappropiate word in listing, received a bid, and then revised immediatly, now 6 days to end of auction., they won auction with one bid. Ebay told me it in there policy that its my job to notify Buyer and would send me email confirming. But never received email from ebay. I beleive its ebays responsibility to notify Buyer of revised item, in which they do. But not Sellers fault at all.

You have to notify your buyers when you make a change in your listing. If you missed a word how is this ebay's fault. You should have done so immediately when you realized the mistake.
Contact your buyer, advise them and give them the option of cancelling the listing. If they agree, then use buyer request,

Yes, you should have notified the bidder that the trombone did not include a case. You should have offered to cancel their bid for them, so that a retraction wouldn't show on their account (even though that change would have constituted a valid reason to retract).
Now, you need to inform the bidder about the problem and ask them what they want to do. They will probably say that they want to cancel the transaction, so you can do that without any penalty if you choose "Buyer request."
Or they might think it's a great deal, and want it anyway. In that case, perhaps you should make it up to the buyer by giving them a discount on the shipping cost as an apology for misleading them.

I"ve been buying on eBay since 1999 and I can't recall ever getting a notification about an auction revision. Hmmm, maybe that's because I usually snipe.

How would you know about my situation, unless your name is Patrick from ebay, that I just spoke too, Can you show me in policy where its my responsiblity

Definitly ebay notifys any bidder of revised item, in which takes all responsibility off seller

I'm sorry but you needed to message the buyer to inform them of the change.

I don't know, you might have something there, now I snipe. But in the early days, when I bid early, I never received a notice advising of a revision.

Show me in EBAY policy. I know EBAY notifys buyer, cause it has happened to me, in which takes resposiblity of Seller.

It is your auction. You made a mistake. Of course it was your responsibility to immediately inform your bidder.
Do you know how many listings are on ebay? How many changes are made to them? Would it be logical for ebay to contact every buyer about every change? Of course not.

Even if eBay did notify the bidder that there had been a change, you still should have contacted them to offer to cancel the bid, because of your error.
It would probably be best to focus on what to do next, rather than on coulda/woulda/shoulda. Regardless of notifications or responsibilities, you now have a buyer who thinks they bid on an item with a case.

I think that is something that would just be logical to do. No offense, but you would know that you changed it, and that you would want to make sure your buyer was aware of that change, since it would mean problems for both you and the buyer down the road if they didn't know about your change.

I have been here 20 years as both a seller and a buyer. And that is simply not true.

Well you can push the sale.
You will likely find that if the buyer complains about something that was revised after the bid was placed eBay will be backing the buyer no matter what "Patrick from eBay" told you.
