Return requested

Hello,

I'm new to selling on Ebay and had a question.

I've recently started selling my old video games on Ebay, and the other day I had someone buy one. They had paid for it so I shipped it out. The next day I received a message from the buyer saying that his son bought the game with his credit card without telling him and asked me to refund his money. The buyer hasn't filed for a return yet. Is it weird that the buyer is messaging me about it instead of just filing for a refund/return? A buyer has already tried to scam me once before in my very short time here on Ebay, so I'm a little suspicious!

Thanks for the help!

Do not do a refund, until the buyer (or the buyer's father, in this case) opens a "return" case.

If you refund before a "return" case is opened, you may never get your item returned to you.

Explain to the buyer's father how to open up a "return" case when he receives the item, or to simply refuse delivery, or mark the package "return to sender."

Once you have received your package again, you can refund the buyer's father (less the fees that you have been charged by eBay, and possibly USPS).

Good luck.

Return requested

Have the buyer open a return case.

Have the buyer return the item (at his expense).

When you get the item back, refund.

No item back, no refund.

Sounds like a scam but here is something else for you to consider. You are coming across as if you know nothing about how to sell online because you show zero feedback. That makes you a magnet for scammers. What you need to do is acquire FB as a seller quickly. Start selling small items from around your house. Price them cheaply just to sell them quickly. Always leave FB for each of your buyers too. Many times, when a buyer receives FB first, they are more likely to reciprocate. As you begin to accumulate FB as a seller, you will stop seeming like an easy target and scammers will move onto the next zero seller. You can do this, but you need to put in some groundwork first. Best of luck to you....

I would reply it's been sent and you're happy to refund if it's  returned. Explain you accept returns which means they can return it for any reason, including their son bought it without their knowledge,,,,,and although eBay says you're responsible for any purchases made on your account your return policy says you can return it if you no longer want it.
