Return request. How to handle it tactfully

I had a pair of shoes at buy it now. I was sent an offer and I accepted the offer. I didn’t ship the shoes out until the  day after accepting the offer.  I sent the buyer an email saying usps pickup your shoes this morning . I hope you enjoy you pair of shoes. The next day I get a return request. Stating they did not want to buy the shoes they just wanted to bid on them. I have no return on the listing as they are brand new shoes. I did try to see if I could reroute the shoes back to me on usps website but it’s not eligible.

@jvbarnett

Did the USPS state why is your package not eligible for interception?

If you shipped with tracking, it should be.

so if you just ignore them they can just claim "not as described" if they do this is one of the few times that ebay could actually easily determine  that the buyer is not telling the truth and rule in the sellers favor however I really doubt that will happen.

On the bright side there is a good chance that USPS will never get them to the buyer anyway

Tell the buyer to file for a return when they receive the shoes.

If the buyer does file a remorse return, you can decide if you want to accept the return or not.

Have a great day.

I get this when I put in the tracking number. Unfortunately, this item is ineligible for USPS Package Intercept

Why is this ineligible
when I click, why is it ineligible I get a list of  different reasons why it may not be.

Tell your buyer to refuse the package when it gets to them.

I would also inform them in a nice way that when they send an offer that is not a bid because it is not an auction. A best offer is an agreement to purchase if the offer is accepted.

Tell the buyer to write on  the parcel *return to sender*...do not open the parcel, just write it on the front, and drop it in a post box or give to the post office.

I called eBay this morning and the representative said the buyer can not change the reason for return request. I’m not sure if that’s true or not.  And that buyer’s remorse is not a reason for a return . They would advise to  me try to tell the buyer sorry. But I can try to reroute if I would like.

What reason did they choose on the return case?

Yes.
…let us know that they want to return the item for a refund.

and be sure to reply to the buyer by Feb 21, 2025. Starting on that day, the buyer could ask us to step in and help by opening a case - this can affect your seller level.

Did not authorize purchase.
And they put I did not authorize Ebay to use my credit card. I simply just places  a bid on these shoes. I do not want them.
