I have had an account with EBay in good standing for 17 years. I listed a book preCovid to sell in Oct. 2020. Last month (March) someone bought it. I had no idea it sold, I did not receive an email from Ebay (checked my SPAM as well) I did receive one email from the buyer via Ebay 2 weeks after he purchased the item, asking when the item was being shipped. I immediately logged onto my acct. and saw I was negative. I truly was freaking out and thinking I had been hacked. I looked at my messages and found out Ebay was trying to verify my account. I had know idea. I have always had PayPal linked to my account and never changed my email. Upon seeing the verification I also linked my checking account immediately and reverified my email. I immediately messaged both the buyer (apologizing for all the confusion) and Ebay explaining everything. The item automatically relisted. The buyer bought it and I shipped it that day. Going so far as taking it to UPS to have it nicely wrapped and paying extra at USPS to insure the book. I wanted to make sure nothing else would go awry. I shipped the book April 1st and it was received April 4th. The buyer received the book and posted a positive review stating it was in as advertised condition.
I have a restriction on my account and I have no idea when I will receive the funds. I have called Ebay numerous times and been told a supervisor will get back to me or the restriction will be lifted in 24, 36 or 72 hours. How do I get this resolved? It was an honest mistake. There is a message trail that clearly states what happened. Please help.

It may be something as simple as that you're being treated as a new seller. Tick this link for more information. Good luck.

I went through the messages and this is what it says
"We wanted to let you know that your account has been permanently restricted from selling because of activity we believe was putting the eBay community at risk. We understand this must be frustrating, and please know that our decision was not made lightly. Measures like this help keep our marketplace safe for everyone. Learn more about how and why accounts can be restricted.
Here’s what you should know
If you have any questions or concerns, or think we’ve made a mistake, please get in touch. We’re here to help. " Will I receive my funds? I am so upset. This was a collectors book and I have no idea what to do.

It looks like prior to your last sale, you hadn't sold anything in over a year, so yes, you may be viewed as a new seller. Also you started out selling multiple high dollar items. Ebay watches new sellers who start out selling high end items right off the bat. Did they ask you to provide receipts for those items? It may just be temporary while ebay reviews it. Hang in there for now, things could change and work out. Good luck.

I suspect the restriction is a result not only of not responding to the previous sale but the fact that it's a $600 book sale that wasn't acknowledged.
I think you handled it well with the buyer and having received positive feedback and explaining to ebay that you erred, admitted to your mistake and handled it appropriately might carry some weight.
A good rule of thumb is to keep an eye on your account whenever you have an active listing. That way, you won't miss questions from potential buyers, a sale or a message from ebay.
Good luck.

Looks like a permanent ban to me. It's over for the OP, I'm afraid.

Seems to be. But they let them update everything for MP it seems, then suspended them. Sad thing is that if they stay suspended, they'll never get the money for the book.
But they can still buy .. even though ebay thinks "because of activity we believe was putting the eBay community at risk" and stopped them from selling. Go figure.

That's just a canned response that they give everybody that they're restricting or banning. It apparently covers every possible situation. Ridiculous.

The same happend to me when i opened a second account.
The put restrictions on it the next day.I contacted ebay on facebook.
Go to Facebook its ebay for bussines and send a message. They normally contact you in
24 Hours.I messaged with an ebey rep for 5 minutes and the problem was fixed.

It's a little late for this...
But never count on a email to notify you of a sale or anything else for matter.
Always log in to your account periodically, at least once a day to see what's going on.

eBay verified to make sure the seller could receive the payout. They may restrict you for future sales but they still have to pay you what is owed from a past transaction.
If they're unable to pay you they turn the funds to unclaimed funds in the seller's state. The seller then has to claim it from their state.

If the buyer received the book and is happy with it (as shown by the + feedback), how can ebay legally keep the money?

This is essential whenever you have items listed, honestly. Email simply isn't reliable-- I've had important emails get shunted into my spam folder for whatever reason. Claiming "I never got the email" doesn't get you out of keeping track of your account when all it takes to do so is a quick login.

If ebay doesn't have verification of the seller, his ss security #, and his bank account, they can't legally send the money to the seller. It's been stated on these boards that they will hold the money for 6 months, awaiting the verification....and if none goes thru.......they will hand the money over to the Sellers State unclaimed money dept........where the seller can claim it, I assume, with proper identification.....

Me too is bad ,eBay is not good for good companies like us, we have licenses, I don't understand sales blocks.
