Restricted item not being returned.

I had a package sent through Global Shipping that eBay declared to be restricted.   There are so many restrictions placed on international shipments that I appreciate eBay policing this.  What I don't agree with is that my $40 sale is being refunded to the buyer and eBay is keeping the item.  It will not be returned and they won't allow the option of me paying for return shipping.  In my opinion, this is paramount to theft.  They could declare any item to be "restricted" and then keep it.  As sellers are no longer allowed to see the destination address, it is impossible for me to verify the "restriction."  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

You have your money and the buyer has been refunded from Ebay's pocket. The item now belongs to Ebay to do with as they want.  There's no theft involved.

What was the item and where was it going?

You got paid for the item. They didn't take the money back away from you. You haven't lost anything. Your seller got his money back from the Global SHipping Center. Everyone is made whole.

How is it theft when you aren't out anything and neither is the buyer?

Thanks for the input.  The email that I received from eBay made it sound like the refund was coming out of my account.  If they don't, then it is perfectly fine.  Take care

When I was in the same situation, I watched and made sure they didn't take my money back. They never touched my money, no problem.

Yep, everybody keeps their money.  Makes me wonder what happens to the restricted items.  It would be stupid to just throw them out.  I wonder if eBay piles them up and auctions them off somewhere local to their shipping center.

Yes, and I completely agree. I just received the email for a $145 item sent via Global Shipping with the same response.  They have NO right to "steal" my item!

They put them back up on ebay and try to sell them...........

You didnt recieve the item you bought, they stole it, you paid to have the item and they decided they wanted it instead and refund you? Thats not how that works, especially when it comes to rare irreplaceable items. Where do they go? Ebay has no use for these items , its absolutely absurd.

It is in the user agreement for global to do this.

Also you may find that item for sale on ebay in times to come, if it is not already....
