How can you respond to negative feedback? Had a buyer today that expected me to ship a large phone from the US to Austria for $12.00!!!! Ebay calculated the shipping not me and I ended up cancelling the transaction. Now I see that he has left bad feedback calling me everything but a thief! I really want to respond to that, I feel that is only fair!!!!!!

I’m confused, that item shows US shipping only, not international, and it calculates the shipping as $16 to me here in Florida?

The buyer paid what was asked, and reasonably expected you to honor the transaction.
But you chose to cancel the sale rather than honor it.
Whatever response you choose, make sure it is factual.

The shipping calculations are usually based on the type/class of shipping that is used as well as the size, weight and destination. That being said I have had a couple instances where the eBay shipping calculation has gone nuts for some reason, usually providing the buyer with an inflated cost and I have never been able to figure out why. I have never had it come out under.
If everything was correct in the posting and the buyers address was in fact Austria then the eBay calculation went wrong for some reason. For international sales, for those limited countries that I sell to, I prefer to utilize the GSP. It slows the timeline a bit but the GSP takes care of the invoicing after the sale to include the shipping cost and I only worry about shipping to the GSC in Kentucky.

Last time I shipped to Australia it cost $47 via ground, took 2 1/2 months and the buyer got his money back. I lost $137. Never again. Feedback means little these days as it is a one way street. Do what is best for you.

We've been sellers on eBay for 17 years with many many thousand transactions....not once has eBay calculated shipping wrong

I had one where Ebay calculated shipping wrong (or so I thought). It was early in my selling days, at the time I didn't understand all the ins and out's (probably still don't). My package was oversize and weighed more then what I put into the calculator. The calculator was accurate based on the info I put in but the info was wrong. Old saying garbage in garbage out

I would have contested the feedback on the grounds that calling you 'fraudulent' is defamation. Cancelling a transaction is not 'fraud' as you refunded their money.

The listing that you got negged for only shows a shipping cost to the US. How did he manage to pay? What was his shipping cost based on?

I'm looking at your completed listing, but it shows only shipping to the U.S. Was the buyer registered in the U.S. or in Austria? (It shows that on his feedback page.)
Did you cancel before payment was received? If so, you should have waited until he paid, after which you would be able to see the Ship To address to which you would be sending the package. Before his payment was received, you might have seen his Austrian eBay address that he registered with, but that would not necessarily be the destination to which you would be sending the phone. Please give us a bit more detail on what happened if that will help.

The listing shows US shipping only.
If the buyer was in Australia and the transaction was cancelled because of shipping complications, the negative feedback about shipping to where you didn't agree to ship to should be removed by ebay.
I would keep contacting ebay until you get it removed.
Good luck and stay safe!
