I think it is totally unscrupulous that eBay now relists expired auction items with no bids without permission. The small print says "up to 8 times." In the past, after giving it a try, when the 7 days auction ended, if no bids, you might decide to do something else with the item, maybe sell it locally, put it in the garage sale, give it to Goodwill, whatever. Now to "make it stop" (lest you end up with a bid but no longer have the item), you have to "end the listing," and then discover there is a charge on your account, even though there were no bids, item did not sell.

While I agree with you in principle, they are not doing anything without your permission. BY listing the auction you are agreeing to the "small print". Thoroughly reading and understanding the terms and conditions before actioning is key to navigating this place...............

Are you listing on the app on your phone? I list on my desktop computer and I don't have this, but my brother does when he lists on his phone.

That's okay...when people start getting fed up with eBay's antics, they will just stop using eBay.
Now that they are doing this to auction style listings as well, I guess I won't be listing anymore until they give me back control of starting or ending a listing.
Since this has started, I have been using eBay less and less and less...even my buying off this site is getting less and less and less...
Getting the picture eBay? eBay needs to understand that buyer's who buy on eBay are seller's customers....seller's are eBay's customers... buyer's are not eBay's customers - sellers are. What do you think will happen when you treat your customers like **bleep**?...They just go away...find somewhere else to do business...
God help you if Amazon ever gets into the auction field...

If you decide to do something else with the item AFTER THE 7-DAY AUCTION HAS ENDED, you will find that the item has been relisted, and you can't end it without paying the same fee you would have paid if it HAD sold.
Really? Is this new? I haven't listed anything for a few months and I ended one auction because the item was broken, no fvf charged to me. I think there are reasons to check for ending auctions.
I also never had an auction relisted automatically.

I just checked the policy.
If you are using the quick listing tool:
Automatic relisting is selected by default
If you are using the advanced listing form;
You can chose not to auto-relist
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/relisting-items?id=4147
So unless this policy has changed already, then use the advanced listing form. I must have had that as default.

@soxfan915I listed several auctions today and did not have any issues. It is the difference beteeen using the quick listing tool vs the advanced listing tool, as stated by another poster. Change to the advanced selling page and that should take care of it. Just watch all the check boxes! It shouldn't be a trap to list an item for sale.
