TLDR: it’s been a month since I purchased a thing, 2 weeks since refunded, seller hasn’t sent a return slip despite me asking, do I have to send it back? Can I junk it?
I won an auction 6/1 and paid that day.
The seller said the ir was shipped 6/3. When prodded for information after tracking shows nothing it actually didn’t go out until 6/7.
I received it 6/9 and it was packaged terribly (They said their mail person packaged it and said it looked fine) and obviously damaged. I immediately opened a ‘request refund, item damaged’ and messaged the seller.
A refund was agreed upon 6/13 but I was told I would have to wait until 6/15 as they didn’t have them money (and now that’s why they said it was packaged so badly)
Refuns was processed 6/16 and I was told eBay would send me the label to send it back.
When I called eBay a few days later with no label they said the seller had to send it since they’d already refunded me. So I messaged the seller.
‘I’ll do it tomorrow’
’how about you pay for it and I’ll reimburse you’ (this is an expensive 40# package)
’I’ll send it 6/29 when I get paid’
they checked in 6/28 before sending it 6/29, I said it was packaged up and ready to go once I had the label...
and didn’t send the label still. It is a 6/30.
At this point do I have to keep this giant box in my house? It’s about 40x30x20” and really in the way. I have no problem sending it back but I’m not paying out of pocket for it. I figured they’d want it back to repair but it doesn’t seem like it.
Also, unless they’ve got a second one they just resisted the same item with the same pictures despite it still sitting in my house.

It sounds like seller does not want to pay for return shipping/
if they have relisted the item, ask if they want you to hold on to the box until sold,he may asked you to ship to the buyer and give you the money to do so.
if he does not respond, you can do whatever you like, there is nothing he can do to you.

grey eye, you're way ahead of some buyers we've had here who DID pay to return and were never reimbursed.
You've got good instincts, hold tight, don't ship on your dime, don't get rid of it, and DO NOT ship it as a favor to that seller.
(They said their mail person packaged it and said it looked fine) what the heck does that even mean?
Their mail person; a USPS postal employee? A person that seller hired to wrap and ship? Bizarre.

My thoughts exactly. It's been a month. I am curious about this seller's history if any and I don't know the situation they are experiencing but how much do you have to do? At this point, I probably would be trashing it very soon. Get rid of it and move on.

Once the seller refunded you without a label, it's yours. However, you did agree to hold it until the end of the month for the seller to send you a label.
Send the seller one more message. Tell him you will hold it X amount of days, and then you will dispose of it. If he wants it back, he needs to send the prepaid label.
Line in the sand, so to speak.

OP, did you file a not described case through ebay? If the seller wants it back on a case through resolution center - they have to send you a return ship label through the dispute pages.
I have a sneaky feeling that either the item did not get what the seler expected it to OR you have a bad seller on your hands and you might not have had this problem if you had checked out the seller's history of feedback.

The people at the post office. It was a large and heavy sewing machine with 3 flimsy sheets of foam batting. A coworker said his LUSH soaps have more/better-packing

I did the case through eBay, and was issued the refund by the seller. Originally they said that eBay would send me the label but when I called eBay they said the seller has to since the refund was already processed.
I will pay much more attention to seller feedback in the future, the communication was initially very good so I took a chance. I think they are either a bad or just very inexperienced seller. The item they relished using the same pictures it an identical listing. There’s no added notes about the condition or damage. I hope no one else falls for that.
Edit to add: the listing is no longer up.

Wonder if the seller is NARU.

Generally when you have been refunded, the transaction is over.
You could check with your seller again if he isn't NARU.
