Refund and label

Bought a Bakelite bangle, dark red. In every pic (at least 8!). Bangle came BRIGHT RED LIKE XMAS!  Totally wouldn’t wear and not shown as bright red. Contacted seller. Agreed to take back. Disputed fee to send back. Totally misrepresented. Agreed to send shipping label. Just got a message that eBay would not send the label. Anyone have a REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE #?  I’d really appreciate that. Frustration and bad EXPERIENCE WITH  EBAY

Re: Refund and label

Which reason did you choose from the pull-down menu, for starting the return?

Re: Refund and label

Monitors will show colours differently, so it is difficult to be sure what colour any given item actually is.

However you bought a red bracelet, you got a red bracelet.

Your claim should be "Buyer Remorse" and you pay for return shipping.

Re: Refund and label

Calling someone will not change a thing. You have to choose the 'correct reason' for the return to 'force' it and a paid-for return label.

Know that colors are ALWAYS different on EVERYONES different screen, so it probably was not intentional; could've been the lighting they were using or your monitor.

Re: Refund and label

In the listing it doesn't look dark red to me, but then again it does not look bright Xmas red either.

As another mentioned............   monitor colors can vary.

Re: Refund and label

You cannot telephone eBay directly, and have been unable to do so for nearly three years now.  Scroll down on this page to "Help & Contact" and you can arrange to have eBay telephone you.

It looks "BRIGHT RED LIKE XMAS" to me, by the way.

Re: Refund and label

I'm not going to get into the color with you..... but If you choose "not as described" for the reason for the return, the seller will have to pay for and provide you with a return label.

I suspect it is in fact a lot brighter than what that photo suggests.

The problem is that it's photographed against a bright white background, and thus the camera stops down its exposure to compensate. That in turn darkens the object that's surrounded by all that bright white, producing the photo we see here, but probably not an accurate rendition of how bright the original is.

The solution is to photograph it against a neutral, 50%-gray background, thus allowing the color to pop if it wants to. The neutral gray background will not skew either the exposure or the color balance, making the image of the item itself that much more accurate.

Re: Refund and label

The truest color results I've gotten was with a black & white background, to "inform" the lens of the truest light and dark values in the frame.  I don't use it for jewelry anymore because I was told by a few people it made the images "too busy" but for just a single bangle and something like bakelite which people are super picky about the color, I would go with a black/white checkerboard or something.

Same here, on both my monitor and my phone. I would call that color crimson or scarlet.

Re: Refund and label

Thanks for the warning on people being picky on color with bakelite. I may eventually get to my mom's bakelite bracelets.

I'm thinking the person took the photo of the bracelet, and in the original it came out dark. Then they used a background removal tool on the bracelet. I notice when I use a white background with no filters, the white background will come out gray. The item itself looks darker than it should. When I used a background remover the item looks much better, but the color is still off. I tend not to use the background removal tools any longer.

I would think the second picture would be more accurate to the color, unless the picture was really dark to begin with and the color was really, really bright red. The poinsettia is really pretty on the bracelet. I have noticed color variations when I'm looking up an item I'm selling, and several people have the exact same thing listed. For some reason there seems to be three or four color shades of the item when there is only one color. Some people just may have a poor camera to begin with.

I sometimes fight with the camera over color trying to get it as correct as I can. I take the picture with my phone using pro camera features with adjusted settings, upload it Ebay on the phone, and then look at it on my PC. If the color looks good and accurate or almost accurate on both my phone and PC, then that is the best I can do. I know I'm not always going to be 100% accurate, or all my pictures are going to look good.

I know some people use various filters on their screen, which they may or may not realize they are using that can throw off the color from one screen to another. Even using a blue light filter will change the color seen on the screen. As it was already said colors can vary from one monitor to another.

All we can do is to do our best.

Re: Refund and label

I'm so sorry this happened to you.  As others have said the color of anything can present to you differently that when you actually have the item in front of you.  That is because there is a wide range of devices used by various buyers to view the listings.  With those devices is a wide range of quality and even age.  It affects how the item will present to you.

When you really need a very specific color and you think you have located the item, always send a note to the seller and ask them to verify the color.

You are returning the item for a Buyer Remorse reason, not because the seller did anything wrong.  And that is why you are having to pay for the return shipping.  Your seller is acting responsibly because they are allowing the return, so try not to be frustrated with them.  I know when you are shopping for a specific thing it can be very disappointing when you think you found it, only to be unpleasantly surprised when it arrives.

Ebay is not at fault for your experience.  Nothing was misrepresented.  I hope you understand.

I do sincerely hop you will find exactly what you are looking for.
