Red exclamation point

I previously received an offer from a buyer that I forgot to accept. I found them and when I message them I grays out with a red exclamation point. Thought it might be caused by en emoji. I resent it without the emoji, same issue. So I just sent one saying "Hello". Still got the red exclamation point. Why? What does it even mean?

ARe you trying to message them via the Offer feature.  And when you say you forgot to accept their offer, did you forget for so long that the time on it expired?  Or did you try to send them a regular 'email' Contact message? 

BTW a screenshot of what you are seeing would probably be helpful.

And until you figure it out, quit sending messages. They may think you're intentionally spamming. Good luck with it.
