Reciprocal Tariffs

I no longer sell outside of the U.S.A., But i am curious if these tariffs need to be in place for sellers here?, In other words if you are selling an item going to France for instance & they tariff us 20%, do you have to up your price 20% to cover the tariff?, If that is the case, those sales will cease to exist.

Yes, the high tariffs that Americans pay to other countries do have a negative effect.

I would not waste my time learning something that would not affect me on eBay. I have plenty of things to keep up with. That's like learning how to drive an 18-wheeler when you don't own one and will never drive one. But to each their own.

The problem with that statement is that you are assuming "chaos." So many people are hyperventilating over what-ifs.  I just don't see the point of worrying about something that may or may not happen.  One would drive themselves crazy. I just don't get it.

That would be a huge assumption that a businessman doesn't understand tariffs.

He's just using it as a bullying tactic against Canada. We're not impressed.

You ever fish for them bucket mouths down in Texas? They got some nice ones down there. I get there for 3 months every year and love it.

The buyer/importer pays the tariffs.

If the USA puts a 25% tariff on Canadian lumber, the homebuilder who buys Canadian lumber for $100  in Canada, pays $100 to the Canadian seller and $25 to the US government.

The seller pays nothing.

they tariff us 20%, do you have to up your price 20% to cover the tariff?

No

You would have to reduce your prices by 20% to cover the tariff for your buyer.

Or find a buyer in another country that does not have a tariff on imports.

For example, China would like to buy more Canadian lumber  but we have preferred the established and simple relationship with US importers, comfortable enough that US buyers get a discounted price.

But if that market dries up, we have other interested customers.
