Did you mean:

Really odd message

A little context; I'm selling something right now that's popular for only about a fraction of a profit that most people are selling it (but let's be honest they are overcharging like no one's business).

I woke up and received this message today in my Ebay inbox:

Hello my friend, we and other sellers agreed to keep the price of this item on $470, do you agree? we listed the item like that with shipping included, that way we all will sell it with a good price and we all will have someone who purchase the item. 🙂

Please let me know if you will change yours, thank you very much.

Seriously, what? I'm both ticked off and amused. Plus this seems like it might be against eBay TOS. Not sure if I should reply, ignore, or report but either way I wanted to share this extremely odd message.

Re: Really odd message

I would have thought the same - but they have pretty good memorabilia selling business going on with all but one or two positive reviews.

Re: Really odd message

Possibly the final update:

I did message the other user back with this:

What you are doing -- sending unsolicited messages due to an "agreement with other sellers" is not only against TOS but not my problem. If you message me again I will be forced to report you to eBay and lower my price by at least $25 more dollars and include free shipping.

That latter half was a joke, but either way, I think it went over their head. Their response:

Please. do consider changing the price. Make this fair for us all. We would appreciate it. Let me know.

This person is clearly stunted in the brain meats.

But true to my word  I contacted eBay. They proceeded to tell repeatedly after I repeatedly told them I KNOW, that I can charge whatever price I would like for my item, though their system does give a recommended pricing.

I had to all but spell it out three times that I KNOW I CAN CHARGE WHAT I WANT I'M LETTING YOU KNOW ABOUT SOMEONE BREAKING YOUR RULES! At the third and a half explanation, he finally got it. He told me they would monitor this person's messages to see if they continue to break the rules... But then he lost points by assuring me that, yes it is indeed my discretion to charge how little or how much I want on any item so do not believe this person who messaged me.

I KNOW!

Clearly, some eBay reps are not the brightest bulbs either.

@ginseng2

I would stop communicating and let the Blues on that thread I gave you deal with it. Stop communicating JMO.

I would stop communicating and let the Blues on that thread I gave you deal with it. Stop communicating JMO. And you can direct contact the ebay "blue" which is either Trinton or Tyler or Brian (the Blue is referenced in the other thread) and let them know your experience with your calling in to CS. The point here is...not your pricing, but not getting this kind of message in your ebay messaging which is against policy.

Re: Really odd message

I would not have ever replied but just ignore and delete. It takes 2 to have a discussion and when you reply he thinks there is a chance

What ebay policy are they breaking? If its illegal you need to report them to the authorties, ebay has no legal powers

This is a user to user board not eBay employees.

Re: Really odd message

Of course, that's bogus.  And who would this XXX be that is eagerly awaiting their report of your malfeasance?

Re: Really odd message

That "not the brightest bulb" discovery that you made is not really a discovery at all but is fairly common knowledge here.
