I never had this happen before and it seems I'm banned from listing anymore even though I have 250 free listings according to Seller hub. I went to list and got a message that I reached my total sales limit and to request more
Then I went through screens to verify my identity, but oops! Guess what? I'm below standard and therefore cannot list again until account is brought up to standard. This never ever happened before, so I guess Ebay is being the strict Evil Step Mother? I don't have a store and I've been below standard for months and months, so why is this happening now?

You had 8 transactions with defects, and some of them might have been earlier than those two. If you can hold on until the earliest transaction is a year old, then that defect will not be included in the evaluation anymore, and your defect rate will start to go down.
I'll just sit it out and see what other threats EB makes against the account.

Negatives don't count. Only defects count. But most of the time, if you get a negative you also get a defect. You had 8 transactions with defectives. eBay doesn't even count them unless there are transactions with defects with at least 4 buyers.
Why are you ignoring the rules? They've been posted and explained more than once. You need to stop arguing because this isn't a debate, and what you think about it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks either, so this discussion you're trying to have is pointless.
If you want to sell on eBay, you play by eBay's rules. If you don't like them, then go elsewhere. If you've waited too long to see the the real world, then you may not have a choice anymore.

That happens when you drop below standard.
